Job summary

Airswift has partnered with a Major Oil & Gas operator to recruit a Head of SHES for an onshore Doha HQ project. The role leads SHES strategy, governance, and incident investigations, overseeing contractor SHES performance and risk management on a long-term contract.

Ideal candidate holds a Bachelor’s degree in a relevant field with at least 10 years SHES experience in Oil & Gas, including supervisory or leadership roles. Willingness to work 6 days/week, with flexibility to project needs.

Qualifications

• Bachelors degree in sciences, safety, health, environment security, or engineering.
• 10 years SHES experience in Oil & Gas, including supervisory roles.
• Experience overseeing service/vendor personnel and contractors.

Responsibilities

• Lead the Project SHES strategy and governance framework.
• Ensure compliance with client SHES Management System and regulatory requirements.
• Direct contractor SHES performance management and assurance programmes.
• Provide SHES leadership to Project Management and Operations.
• Lead strategic risk management and critical risk control verification.
• Approve Project SHES Plans, procedures and assurance programmes.
• Lead major incident investigations and organisational learning.
• Drive workforce engagement, worker welfare and positive safety culture.
• Promote continuous improvement and SHES excellence throughout project execution.

We are working with a Major Oil & Gas operator to source a Head of SHES. This is a long-term contract role. Please see details below.

Title: Head of SHES

Start Date: ASAP (typically within 1 month notice)

Location: Onshore (Doha HQ/Qatar Site)

Working Schedule: 6 days per week / 8-10 hours per day or as per project requirement

Lead the Project SHES strategy and governance framework. Ensure compliance with client SHES Management System and regulatory requirements. Direct contractor SHES performance management and assurance programmes. Provide SHES leadership to Project Management and Operations. Lead strategic risk management and critical risk control verification. Approve Project SHES Plans, procedures and assurance programmes. Lead major incident investigations and organisational learning. Develop SHES capability, succession planning and leadership coaching. Drive workforce engagement, worker welfare and positive safety culture. Promote continuous improvement and SHES excellence throughout project execution.

Knowledge and Key Skills

10 years’ experience in SHES in the Oil & Gas Industry, including 2 years of experience in a supervisory role, including acting roles, or oversight of service/vendor personnel.
