Job summary

LOGCAP V seeks a Fire Fighter to prepare for and respond to fire/medical emergencies, educate staff on safety, and support department operations. You will operate alarms, inspect facilities, and participate in rescue and hazardous materials responses while maintaining readiness.

Candidates must hold required DoD/IFSAC/Pro-Board certifications, pass health exams, and communicate effectively in English. The role requires teamwork and strict adherence to safety procedures.

Qualifications

Responsibilities

  • Participates as a positive team member and adheres to contract standards.
  • Maintains safety and regulatory compliance at all times.

  • Conducts fire inspections and pre-incident planning.
  • Operates fire alarm and radio communications equipment.
  • Performs logistical and administrative duties for department operations.

Overview

The purpose of this job is to perform specialized duty functions in preparing for and responding to fire/medical emergency calls and in providing general support within the Fire Department/surrounding area. Duties and responsibilities include, but not limited to maintaining readiness for emergency call response; responding to fire, responding to exercise evolutions, medical and related emergency calls when dispatched. Additionally, fire fighters will be heavily involved in educating staff and public on fire safety/prevention and performing Fire Department activities.

Responsibilities
  • Participates as a positive team member and understands and conforms to the LOGCAP V contract Performance Work Statement.
  • Actively participates and maintains a safe workplace, ensuring safety is the highest priority.
  • Complies with all Environmental, Health, and Safety (EHS) and Quality Assurance (QA) requirements and goals.
  • Maintains documentation as necessary to meet these requirements.
  • Ensures emergency equipment is operational and in a state of readiness as required by NFPA or other industry standards.
  • Maintains and clean personal protective equipment and works as an effective team member in cleaning equipment and facilities.
  • As part of a team conducts fire inspections, pre-incident planning and ensures that facilities are safe and documentation is recorded and tracked.
  • Operates computerized digital fire alarm receiving equipment including two-way radio communications equipment.
  • Performs additional property control and logistical duties in support of fire department operations to include, maintaining accountability of equipment, scheduling maintenance of equipment, coordinating appointments of subordinates, and other administrative duties as needed.
  • Serves as a team member on a rescue unit, ladder truck, engine company, or water tender.
  • Enters burning or contaminated structures, vehicles, and other immediately dangerous to life and health areas to fight fires and/or perform rescues while wearing required personal protective equipment.
  • Acts as a crew member for structural fires, rescue operations, medical emergencies, hazardous materials responses and other emergency events as directed in accordance with process and procedures identified in the department, standard operating procedures.
  • Performs duties in support of organizational metrics.
  • Adequately and honestly tracks all data related to metrics.
  • Provides direct support to the achievement of all metrics related to the LOGCAP V.
  • Attends meeting in the absence of the supervisor or as needed.
  • Communicates professionally both orally and in writing with team members and others, as needed, to relay information necessary for job success.
  • This includes, but is not limited to, performance appraisals, job requirements, division metrics, projects, quality standard procedures, and safety practices.
  • Performs other duties as required.

Qualifications
  • Education / Certifications:
    • One-year related experience may be substituted for one year of education, if degree is required.
    • Must be able to successfully pass a Department of State (DoS) vetting, if required.
    • Will meet all DoS security requirements.
    • Must be able to pass Annual Firefighter Occupational Health Exam and SCBA Fit Testing IAW NFPA 1582 and 1583.
    • Must be available for recall.
    • Required to have either DoD, IFSAC and/or Pro-Board Certification to these levels: Fire Fighter II, Hazardous Materials Awareness and Operations, Driver Operator Pumper, First Aid Responder, and CPR/AED through American Heart Association (AHA), American Red Cross (ARC), or Health & Safety Institute (HSI).
  • Experience:
    • Minimum five (5) years' experience as a Fire Fighter working on a DoD Installation, preferred.
  • OCN Qualifications:
    • Required to have either DoD, IFSAC and/or Pro-Board Certification to these levels: Fire Fighter II, Hazardous Materials Awareness and Operations, Driver Operator Pumper, First Aid Responder (First Aid) and CPR/AED through (AHA), (ARC), or (HSI).
    • Must be able to read, write, and speak in English.
    • Firefighters will be directly supervised by the Station Fire Captains. In the event the Station Fire Captain is not available, the Assistant Fire Chief is the next step in the Chain of Command; followed by the Fire Chief.
