Job summary

Swan Global is seeking an F&G Instrument Technician / Supervisor for offshore projects. You will install, calibrate, troubleshoot, and maintain instrumentation and control systems during shutdowns, ensuring safe operations in hazardous environments.

You will work with electrical teams to perform loop checks, document calibration and commissioning, and support pre-commissioning and start-ups. Relevant certifications (COMPEX, BOSIET, OPITO) and minimum five years of oil & gas experience are

Qualifications

• Diploma in Instrumentation Engineering or equivalent.
• COMPEX (Ex01-Ex04) for hazardous areas (mandatory).
• BOSIET/HUET with CA-EBS (offshore survival).
• OPITO H2S/BA certification.

Responsibilities

• Perform maintenance, testing and calibration of process instruments.
• Calibrate and test control valves, SDVs and actuators.
• Work with DCS/PLC interfaces and ensure loop integrity.
• Replace faulty instruments and complete loop checks.
• Update calibration records and CMMS entries.
• Follow HSE procedures for hazardous area work (QP standards).
• Participate in pre-commissioning and start-ups after shutdown.

Job Title: F&G Instrument Technician / Supervisor - Offshore Project

Job Description:

The Instrumentation Technician is responsible for installing, calibrating, troubleshooting, and maintaining instrumentation and control systems during offshore shutdown projects, ensuring safe and efficient operations in hazardous environments.

Key Responsibilities:

• Shutdown Execution:
• Perform maintenance, testing, and calibration of:
• Process instruments (pressure/temperature/flow transmitters)
• Control valves, shutdown valves (SDVs), and actuators
• DCS/PLC interfaces
• Replace faulty instruments and conduct loop checks
• HSE Compliance:
• Follow QatarEnergy (QP) safety procedures for hazardous area work
• Implement proper isolations (LOTO) for instrument maintenance
• Participate in toolbox talks and safety meetings
• Diagnose and repair instrument faults in control systems
• Conduct 4-20mA loop testing and signal verification
• Interface with electrical teams for integrated systems
• Documentation:
• Maintain calibration records and certification documents
• Update instrument databases and as-built drawings
• Complete work orders in CMMS (SAP, Maximo)
• Assist in pre-commissioning and functional testing
• Participate in control system start-ups after shutdown

Qualifications & Requirements:

• Education: Diploma in Instrumentation Engineering or equivalent
• Certifications:
• COMPEX (Ex01-Ex04) for hazardous areas (mandatory)
• BOSIET/HUET with CA-EBS (offshore survival)
• OPITO H2S/BA certification
• Experience:
• Minimum 5 years in oil & gas instrumentation
• 3+ years offshore experience, preferably in shutdown projects
• Familiarity with QP, Shell, or TotalEnergies standards
• Technical Skills:
• Proficiency with calibration equipment (Fluke, Druck)
• Knowledge of Foundation Fieldbus, HART protocols
• Ability to interpret P&IDs and loop diagrams
