We're Hiring: Environment Projects & Air Emission Specialist
Location: Qatar (Oil & Gas / Petrochemical Sector)
About the Role
We are looking for an experienced Environment Projects & Air Emission Specialist to manage the development and implementation of environmental management systems and projects that enhance pollution and air emissions prevention, and resource conservation controls — ensuring full compliance with regulatory requirements.
Key Responsibilities
Environmental Projects
- Manage Environmental Health, Social, and Impact Assessment Studies (EIAs) and related environmental studies.
- Act as focal point for obtaining environmental permits from QatarEnergy MIC/RLIC and the Ministry of Environment and Climate Change (MECC).
- Liaise with regulatory bodies to secure Consent to Operate (CTO) approvals.
- Ensure project environmental management aligns with company standards, regulations, and CTO requirements.
Air Emission
- Liaise with QatarEnergy Sustainability and Surface Directorate for GHG verification and certification.
- Manage GHG accounting and reporting programs.
- Oversee flaring and air emission calculations.
- Develop and implement emission reduction and pollution prevention plans.
- Ensure compliance with regulatory and stakeholder requirements on emissions and flaring.
Leak Detection and Repair (LDAR)
- Manage the LDAR program across all facilities.
- Ensure compliance with environmental guidelines, regulations, and international standards (e.g., QE procedures, CPChem OE LDAR standards).
Project & People Management
- Ensure environmental management system compliance across all projects.
- Support project teams in planning and execution to ensure adherence to environmental laws and regulations.
- Manage direct reports, set objectives, and support their development.
- Contribute to Qatarization targets by developing Qatari employees.
Reporting
- Coordinate investigation and reporting of environmental incidents, ensuring corrective action plans are implemented.
- Prepare timely, accurate reports and KPIs in line with departmental standards.
Qualifications & Experience
- Education: Bachelor's degree in Chemical, Process, or Environmental Engineering / Environmental Science or a related discipline (Master's in Environmental Engineering preferred).
- Experience: 5–7 years in the Oil & Gas industry (Petrochemicals experience preferred).
- Languages: Proficient English required; working knowledge of Arabic preferred.
