Avey is seeking an Engineering Intern to help build its flagship AI medical products in Doha, Qatar. You will own a well-scoped feature or service end-to-end, receiving mentorship from senior engineers to learn how production systems are operated.

You’ll develop backend services in Go and Python, work with relational databases and messaging systems, write tests, add observability, and participate in code reviews and sprint ceremonies.

Qualifications

• Currently enrolled in, or graduated within the last 12 months from, a Bachelor's or Master's in Computer Science, or a related STEM degree.
• Solid fundamentals in data structures, algorithms and basic concurrency.
• Understanding of how web APIs work (HTTP, REST) and basic experience with relational databases and SQL.
• Basic familiarity with JavaScript/TypeScript and React.
• Comfortable with Git, the command line and a pull-request code-review workflow.
• A habit of writing tests for your own code.
• Clear written and spoken English.
• Eligible to work or intern in Qatar for the internship period.

Responsabilités

• Write short design docs and join design reviews.
• Take part in code review, both giving and receiving feedback.
• Join sprint planning and stand-ups, tracking your work in Jira.

Position Overview

Avey is seeking an Engineering Intern to join the team building Avey's flagship AI medical products.

You'll own a well-scoped piece of a real product area and ship code that runs in production for users and hospitals all over the world. Senior engineers will mentor you through design, code review and how production systems are operated.

The candidates who are either available in Qatar or is willing to relocate to Qatar should only be applying for this position.

Key Responsibilities

1. Scoped Product Ownership

• Own a well-scoped feature or service end to end: short design note, implementation, review, release and iteration.
• Work with your mentor, Product, Design, DevOps and InfoSec to turn requirements into shipped, secure features.

2. Backend & Fullstack Development

• Build and extend backend services in Go and Python, including parts of Avey Chat and API Gateway, and the services behind our medical products.
• Work with relational databases, Redis caching and Kafka event streams under guidance.

3. Production Quality

• Write unit and integration tests for everything you ship.
• Add logging, metrics and tracing so your code is observable in production.
