Job summary

TradesApp is seeking an experienced Electrical Maintenance Technician in Doha, Qatar to maintain and troubleshoot industrial electrical systems in a water/desalination plant.

You will handle preventive and corrective maintenance on MV/LV switchgear, MCCs, VFDs, transformers, and control circuits, while ensuring safety procedures and accurate records.

Qualifications

• Diploma, ITI, or Technical Certificate in Electrical Engineering / Electrical Technology.
• 3–5+ years of hands-on industrial electrical maintenance experience.
• Strong experience with MV and LV electrical systems.
• Hands-on experience with switchgear, MCCs, VFDs, motors, transformers, and circuit breakers.
• Experience with electrical protection relays and associated equipment.
• Ability to read and interpret electrical control schematics and single-line diagrams.
• Experience with electrical testing, including insulation resistance testing.
• Knowledge of LOTO and electrical isolation/de-isolation procedures.
• Knowledge of Permit-to-Work and industrial electrical safety procedures.

Responsibilities

• Perform preventive, predictive, and corrective maintenance on electrical equipment and systems.
• Troubleshoot, repair, and maintain: motors and pumps, MCCs, VFDs, MV/LV switchgear, power transformers, LV/MV power distribution, electrical panels and control circuits, PLC/SCADA components, UPS systems.
• Inspect, test, and maintain electrical panels, breakers, protection relays, and control circuits.
• Perform preventive maintenance and troubleshooting on MV and LV switchgear and VFDs.
• Conduct insulation resistance testing using appropriate test equipment.
• Support maintenance and testing of protection relays and circuit breakers.
• Carry out electrical isolation and de-isolation activities per procedures.
• Assist with plant startup, shutdown, testing, and commissioning.
• Monitor plant electrical performance and identify potential equipment failures.
• Read and interpret electrical drawings, single-line diagrams, control schematics, and wiring diagrams.
• Ensure compliance with LOTO, PTW, and electrical safety procedures.
• Coordinate with Operations, Mechanical, and Instrumentation teams to minimize downtime.
• Maintain accurate maintenance records, reports, and spare-parts information.
• Respond to emergency electrical breakdowns and support shift-based maintenance.

About the Role

We are seeking an experiencedElectrical Maintenance Technicianto join a major industrial water/desalination operation.

The role will be responsible for maintaining and troubleshooting the plant's electrical systems and equipment, includingMV/LV switchgear, MCCs, VFDs, motors, transformers, pumps, UPS systems, and electrical control systems.

The ideal candidate will have strong hands-on industrial electrical maintenance experience and be comfortable working in aplant environment, including preventive maintenance, emergency breakdowns, commissioning, shutdowns, and electrical isolation activities.

Key Responsibilities

• Performpreventive, predictive, and corrective maintenanceon electrical equipment and systems.

• Troubleshoot, repair, and maintain:

  • Motors and pumps

  • Motor Control Centers (MCCs)

  • Variable Frequency Drives (VFDs)

  • MV/LV switchgear

  • Power transformers

  • LV/MV power distribution systems

  • Electrical panels and control circuits

  • PLC and SCADA-related electrical components

  • UPS systems
