Job summary

ECCO Gulf Majorel Qatar is seeking a results-driven Electrical Engineer with 5+ years of experience in design, installation, testing and commissioning of earthing and lightning protection systems for major infrastructure in Qatar. You will ensure KAHRAMAA and QCDD compliance and apply IEC 62305, IEEE 80/142, and BS EN 62305 across high-rise buildings, substations and commercial projects.

Strong site coordination and documentation are essential.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering.
• Minimum 5 years of relevant experience, preferably in Qatar/GCC.
• Experience in Earthing/Grounding and Lightning Protection Systems.
• Knowledge of KAHRAMAA and QCDD requirements.

Responsibilities

• Design and develop earthing, grounding, and lightning protection systems per standards.
• Prepare drawings, layouts, calculations, specifications and method statements.
• Conduct earthing system calculations including earth resistance and soil resistivity.
• Design and review LPS and surge protection solutions.
• Supervise installation activities to ensure compliance with drawings and safety.
• Perform testing, inspection, and commissioning of earthing and LPS.
• Coordinate with consultants, contractors, clients, authorities and other disciplines.
• Ensure compliance with KAHRAMAA, QCDD, IEC, IEEE, BS EN and related standards.
• Identify issues and propose practical engineering solutions.
• Prepare testing/commissioning reports and project handover documentation.
• Support technical discussions, site inspections, authority approvals and meetings.

Job description

We are seeking a results-oriented Electrical Engineer with a minimum of 5 years of progressive experiencespecializing in the design, installation, testing, and commissioning of Earthing (Grounding) and Lightning Protection Systems (LPS).

The successful candidate will have strong technical knowledge of Qatar regulatory requirements, including KAHRAMAA and QCDD guidelines, as well as relevant international engineering standards such as IEC 62305, IEEE 80/142, and BS EN 62305.

The role requires hands‑on experience delivering reliable lightning protection, surge protection, and low‑resistance earthing solutions for high‑rise buildings, substations, commercial developments, and major infrastructure projects.

Key Responsibilities

• Design and develop comprehensive earthing, grounding, and lightning protection systems in accordance with project specifications and applicable standards.
• Prepare and review technical drawings, layouts, calculations, specifications, method statements, and material submittals.
• Conduct earthing system calculations, including earth resistance, soil resistivity, step and touch potential, and related engineering assessments.
• Design and review Lightning Protection Systems (LPS) and surge protection solutions.
• Supervise and monitor installation activities to ensure compliance with approved drawings, specifications, and safety requirements.
• Perform and supervise testing, inspection, and commissioning of earthing and lightning protection systems.
• Coordinate with consultants, contractors, clients, authorities, and other engineering disciplines throughout project execution.
• Ensure compliance with KAHRAMAA, QCDD, IEC, IEEE, BS EN, and other applicable local and international standards.
• Identify technical issues during project execution and recommend practical engineering solutions.
• Prepare testing and commissioning reports, inspection documentation, and project handover documents.
• Support technical discussions, site inspections, authority approvals, and project meetings.
• Ensure all work is completed according to project timelines, quality requirements, and HSE standards.

Qualifications & Experience

• Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering or a related engineering discipline.
• Minimum 5 years of relevant professional experience, preferably within Qatar or the GCC.
• Demonstrated experience in Earthing/Grounding and Lightning Protection Systems.
• Strong knowledge of KAHRAMAA and QCDD requirements.
• Strong understanding of applicable standards, including:
  • IEC 62305
  • IEEE 80
  • IEEE 142
  • BS EN 62305
• Experience working on high‑rise buildings, substations, infrastructure, industrial, or major commercial projects.
• Good understanding of electrical drawings, single‑line diagrams, layouts, specifications, and technical documentation.
• Experience with testing and commissioning procedures and relevant electrical testing equipment.
• Proficiency in relevant engineering/design software and AutoCAD is preferred.
