Job summary

AECOM is seeking an experienced Design Manager – Utilities in Doha to lead the design and coordination of utility systems for major infrastructure projects. You will oversee a multi-skilled team, manage timelines, and ensure regulatory compliance across water, wastewater, drainage, power, telecommunications, and gas networks.

The role requires 15 years of utility design experience with at least 5 years in leadership, strong technical oversight, and excellent collaboration with engineers,

Qualifications

• 15 years of experience in utility design and management, with at least 5 years in a leadership role.
• Proven track record of successfully managing design teams and leading complex infrastructure projects.
• Advanced proficiency with design software and tools such as AutoCAD, BIM platforms, and industry-specific applications.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to evaluate technical challenges and develop innovative solutions.
• Comprehensive knowledge of utility design standards, codes, and regulatory requirements applicable to Qatar and the Middle East region.
• Excellent project management skills, including budget management, resource planning, and schedule optimization.
• Demonstrated leadership abilities with strong interpersonal and communication skills.
• Experience with stakeholder management and cross-functional team collaboration.

Responsibilities

• Lead the design process for utility systems, including water, wastewater, drainage, power, telecommunications, and gas networks.
• Ensure designs are compliant with local regulations, international standards, and project requirements.
• Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to integrate utility designs into project plans.
• Coordinate with government authorities and utility providers to obtain necessary approvals and permits.
• Review and approve design drawings, specifications, and calculations to ensure accuracy and quality.
• Provide technical guidance and support to the design team throughout the project lifecycle.
• Act as the primary point of contact for utility-related matters, liaising with clients, regulatory bodies, and other stakeholders.
• Address and resolve design-related issues and challenges in a timely manner.
• Identify potential risks and develop mitigation strategies to ensure smooth project execution.
• Monitor and manage changes to utility designs, ensuring alignment with project objectives.
• Prepare detailed reports on design progress, challenges, and solutions.
• Maintain accurate documentation of design activities and decisions.

Job Description

We are seeking an experienced Design Manager – Utilities to lead and oversee the design and coordination of utility systems for infrastructure projects in Qatar. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in leading a multi skilled team , project management, and stakeholder coordination, ensuring the successful delivery of utility systems that meet project specifications, timelines, and regulatory requirements.

Key Responsibilities

Design Management

• Lead the design process for utility systems, including water, wastewater, drainage, power, telecommunications, and gas networks.
• Ensure designs are compliant with local regulations, international standards, and project requirements.

Project Coordination

• Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams, including engineers, architects, and contractors, to integrate utility designs into overall project plans.
• Coordinate with government authorities and utility providers to obtain necessary approvals and permits.
