Job summary

Techno Q in Doha is seeking an experienced ELV Design Engineer to lead end-to-end ELV systems design for building and infrastructure projects. You will develop detailed designs, create CAD drawings and work with clients, architects and project teams to meet requirements on time and to high quality standards.

You will perform site surveys, conduct feasibility studies, ensure compliance with ANSI/TIA/EIA, NFPA and other codes, and provide technical support during installation and commissioning.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in engineering is required.
• 7–9 years of ELV/low current design experience.
• Experience in system integrator/contracting environments is preferred.
• Professional certifications such as BICSI are advantageous.

Responsibilities

• Collaborate with clients, architects and project managers to define requirements.
• Design ELV systems including SCS, data, voice, CCTV, access control and BAS.
• Create detailed CAD drawings, schematics and specifications.

Job description

The ELV Design Engineer will be responsible for end-to-end design and engineering of Extra Low Voltage (ELV) systems for building and infrastructure projects. The role involves collaborating with clients, architects, and project teams to understand requirements, developing detailed ELV designs and drawings, ensuring compliance with international and local standards, and providing technical support during installation and commissioning.

Duties and Responsibilities: ELV Design Engineer

1. 1) Collaborate with clients, architects, and project managers to understand project requirements and objectives.
2. 2) Design Extra Low Voltage (ELV) systems, including but not limited to:
   • a. Structured Cabling Systems (SCS)
   • b. Data Networks
   • c. Voice Networks
   • d. Security Systems (CCTV, Access Control, Intrusion Detection)
   • e. Audio-Visual Systems
   • f. Public Address (PA) Systems
   • g. Building Automation Systems (BAS)
   • h. Fire Alarm Systems
3. 3) Develop detailed design drawings, schematics, and specifications using CAD software (e.g., AutoCAD).
4. 4) Perform site surveys and assessments to gather necessary information for design and implementation.
5. 5) Conduct technical feasibility studies and risk assessments to ensure the viability and effectiveness of proposed solutions.
6. 6) Ensure compliance with relevant industry standards, codes, and regulations (e.g., ANSI/TIA/EIA, BICSI, NFPA).
7. 7) Work closely with internal teams and external vendors to select appropriate equipment, materials, and technologies for ELV systems.
8. 8) Provide technical support and guidance to installation and commissioning teams during the implementation phase.
9. 9) Review and evaluate system performance, troubleshoot issues, and propose corrective actions as needed.
10. 10) Stay updated on emerging technologies, industry trends, and best practices in ELV system design and integration.

Experience: 7–9 years in ELV / Low Current systems design and engineering, preferably in a system integrator / contracting environment.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Engineering (B.E./B.Tech) in one of the following:
• Electronics & Communication / Telecommunications
• Electrical & Electronics
• Professional certifications (preferred/added advantage):
• BICSI (e.g., RCDD
• Vendor certifications in CCTV/Access Control, Fire Alarm, or Building Management Systems
• AutoCAD / BIM-related certifications
