Job summary

Transrail Lighting is seeking a Senior Transmission Design Engineer to coordinate all design and engineering activities for power transmission projects in Qatar. You will lead HV/EHV line design, perform electrical and structural calculations, and ensure compliance with codes, client requirements, and project schedules.

Responsibilities include tower spotting, sag-tension checks, review of drawings and BOQs, and cross-disciplinary coordination with civil, electrical, protection, and survey teams

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Civil or Structural Engineering with transmission line experience.
• Experience in electrical and structural design for transmission lines.
• Knowledge of IEC, IS, IEEE, CIGRE standards and client requirements.
• Ability to coordinate multi-disciplinary design teams.

Responsibilities

• Design and engineering of HV/EHV transmission lines, including route configuration.
• Perform electrical and structural design calculations for transmission line systems.
• Coordinate overall design and engineering activities for overhead/underground projects.
• Carry out tower spotting, sag-tension calculations, clearance checks, and loading assessments.
• Review design deliverables for compliance with specs, codes, standards, and client requirements.
• Coordinate with clients, consultants, vendors, and subcontractors on technical matters.
• Track design deliverables, schedules, approvals, comments, and revisions.
• Review routes, profiles, survey data, and provide engineering solutions.
• Prepare and review design drawings, technical specifications, BOQs, and engineering documents.
• Ensure designs comply with IEC, IS, IEEE, CIGRE and utility/project standards.
• Coordinate with civil, structural, electrical, protection, survey, and project teams.
• Support construction teams by resolving design queries and site issues.
• Participate in design reviews ensuring quality, safety, schedule and project requirements.
