Job summary

Oryx University, in partnership with Liverpool John Moores University, is seeking an IT Lab Assistant to maintain and support computer laboratories for BSc Computer Science and MSc Cybersecurity programs. You will configure virtualized labs, install essential software, and ensure secure lab environments for lectures, practicals, and research.

Responsibilities include hands‑on lab setup, real‑time support, and maintaining hardware inventory.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree or higher diploma in a closely related field.
• CCNA certification is preferred.
• CEH or entry‑level cybersecurity certifications are advantageous.
• Strong Linux and Windows/macOS administration skills.
• Experience with virtualization and security lab setups.
• Knowledge of common cybersecurity tools and testing environments.

Responsibilities

• Set up and maintain computer labs for undergraduate and postgraduate programs.
• Configure and manage virtualized lab environments (VMware, VirtualBox, Proxmox, Hyper‑V).
• Install and license academic software, IDEs, compilers, and security tools (Wireshark, Metasploit, Kali, Burp Suite, Snort).
• Provide real‑time technical support to faculty and students during labs and open hours.
