Job summary

Beyond Lighting in Doha, Qatar, is seeking a skilled CNC Designer / Operator to join our lighting manufacturing team. The role involves CAD design, generating CNC cutting files, and operating laser/plasma cutting machines for metal fabrication.

The ideal candidate has mechanical engineering background, hands-on CNC experience, and the ability to optimize material use while meeting quality standards. Immediate joiners preferred for on-site work.

Qualifications

• Degree or diploma in Mechanical Engineering or related field.
• Experience operating CNC laser, plasma, and fabrication equipment.
• Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings and CAD files.
• Knowledge of material types used in lighting components is a plus.

The role will also support the production of lighting fixtures, poles, and other metal components while ensuring accuracy, quality, and efficient material utilization.**Key Responsibilities*** + Interpret technical drawings, CAD files, engineering specifications, and production requirements. + Create, modify, and prepare designs using CAD software such as **AutoCAD, SolidWorks, or equivalent**. + Prepare CNC cutting files and optimized nesting layouts to maximize material utilization and minimize waste. + Operate CNC fiber/CO2 laser cutting, plasma cutting, and related machinery for metal fabrication. + Support the design and production of lighting fixtures, poles, brackets, enclosures, and other metal components. + Ensure accuracy and dimensional conformity of all cut and fabricated components. + Coordinate closely with the Design, Production, and Engineering teams to ensure designs are suitable for manufacturing. + Monitor machine operation and production output to meet required quality and delivery schedules. + Troubleshoot basic machine and cutting issues and coordinate with the Maintenance team when required. + Perform routine machine checks, cleaning, and basic preventive maintenance. + Inspect finished components and ensure compliance with approved drawings and specifications. + Maintain proper records of CNC files, drawings, production quantities, and material usage. + Follow all company safety procedures and ensure safe operation of machinery and equipment.**Qualifications & Requirements*** + Diploma or Bachelor’s degree in **Mechanical Engineering, Mechanical Design, Manufacturing, or a related field**. + Proven experience as a **CNC Laser Operator, CNC Designer, CNC Programmer, or similar role**. + Strong knowledge of CNC programming and laser/plasma cutting processes. + Proficiency in **AutoCAD, SolidWorks, or similar CAD software**. + Experience in metal fabrication, particularly **lighting poles and lighting fixture components**, is highly preferred. + Knowledge and practical experience with **bending machines** will be an added advantage. + Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings, fabrication drawings, and technical specifications. + Good understanding of metal cutting, fabrication, dimensions, tolerances, and material selection. + Strong attention to detail and commitment to accuracy. + Good troubleshooting and problem-solving skills. + Ability to work independently and effectively as part of a production team.**Preferred Skills & Experience*** + Experience in **lighting manufacturing, metal fabrication, or similar manufacturing industries**. + Hands-on experience working with **mild steel, stainless steel, aluminum, brass, and other sheet/plate materials**. + Knowledge of powder coating, polishing, grinding, and other metal finishing processes. + Basic understanding of electrical components used in lighting products is an advantage. + Experience with CNC nesting and material optimization software is preferred. + Experience in manufacturing street lighting poles, high-mast poles, or similar fabricated products is an advantage.
