Job summary

Telford Offshore in Qatar is seeking an experienced Chief Electrician to oversee operation, maintenance, inspection, testing and repair of all electrical and electronic equipment onboard the vessel.

You will maintain generation and distribution systems, coordinate with Chief Engineer and ETO, ensure DP3 capability, keep spare parts, and document maintenance logs. A strong focus on safety, compliance and teamwork is essential to ensure reliable DP operations.

Qualifications

• Extensive experience as Chief Electrician onboard DP vessels.
• Experience maintaining electrical generation and distribution systems.

Responsibilities

• Operate, maintain, inspect, test and repair electrical/electronic equipment onboard the vessel.
• Maintain generation and distribution systems including generators, switchboards, transformers, UPS, batteries, and protection systems.
• Liaise with Chief Engineer, ETO/electrical personnel and DPOs on maintenance affecting DP capability or vessel status.
• Maintain DP3 capability electrical systems and ensure their availability.
• Manage stocks of electrical spare parts, consumables, tools and testing equipment; advise on replenishments.
• Maintain detailed maintenance logs and records.
• Oversee heli-admin and helicopter communications.
• Ensure equipment complies with Rules, Regulations and Standards for electrical equipment.

Job description

• Responsible for the operation, maintenance, inspection, testing and repair of all electrical and electronic equipment onboard the vessel.
• Maintain electrical generation and distribution systems, including generators, switchboards, transformers, UPS systems, battery systems, emergency power supplies and associated protection systems.
• Liaise closely with the Chief Engineer, ETO/electrical personnel and DPOs regarding maintenance or defects that may affect DP capability or vessel operational status.
• Maintain the integrity and availability of electrical systems supporting the vessel's DP3 capability.
• Maintain adequate stocks of electrical spare parts, consumables, tools and testing equipment and advise the Chief Engineer of replenishment requirements.
• Maintain a detailed log where all maintenance is recorded.
• Maintenance of Heli-admin and Helicopter communications.
• Check that any company or client's electrical / electronic equipment mobilised onboard is suitable and compatible to the vessel electrical supplies.
• Check that the above equipment complies with Rules, Regulations and Standards for electric equipment.
• Provide timely updates and Reports to E+I Superintendent and Operations Manager when required.

• Ensure that the workforce under their control are adequately trained, competent and authorised for the operations which they are required to perform and kept informed of all relevant information to ensure their health and safety. Carry out appropriate induction training.
• Ensure a safe working environment for employees under their control. Assist in all safety inspections to ensure that the workplace is maintained in a safe and tidy condition. Ensure as far as is reasonably practicable that the workplace is kept free of potential hazards.
• Ensure that risk assessments are carried out. Evaluate processes and activities for the presence of hazards. Assess record and control the subsequent risk to a tolerable level.
• Conform with the emergency procedures applicable to their place of work. Ensure that the workforce is aware of, and understands, the emergency procedures.
• Facilitate effective two-way communication with the workforce on HSE issues. Conduct Toolbox Talks and Pre Job Safety Meetings. Attend HSE Meetings and ensure workforce participation.
• Participate in Permit to Work, risk assessment and toolbox talk processes for electrical and associated maintenance activities.
• Ensure all safety devices provided are utilized and maintained, protective equipment is worn, safety rules are observed and safe working practices applied. Ensure correct equipment usage, inspection and effective maintenance.
• Report and investigate all accidents and dangerous occurrences, including environmental incidents in the area of responsibility.
• Ensure that operations are conducted in compliance with health, safety and environmental legislation and Company policy, plans and procedures. Ensure workers under their control are kept informed of all relevant information to ensure their Health and Safety, and the protection of the Environment.
