Job summary

Oryx University in partnership with Liverpool John Moores University is hiring a full-time cafe assistant to prepare and serve espresso-based drinks, teas, and light snacks on campus. You will greet customers, take orders, and handle payments through the POS system, while maintaining high standards of hygiene and safety.

Experience as a barista and strong English communication are essential; Arabic is a plus.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent is required.
• 1–2 years experience as a barista or in cafe/hospitality.
• Strong knowledge of espresso preparation and latte art.

Responsibilities

• Prepare and serve espresso-based drinks, specialty coffees, teas, and cold beverages to the cafe’s quality standards.
• Greet customers, take orders accurately, and process payments through the POS system.
• Operate, clean, and maintain espresso machines, grinders, and other cafe equipment.
• Maintain a clean, organized, and hygienic work area in line with Qatar Ministry of Public Health food safety regulations.
• Monitor stock levels of coffee, milk, syrups, and supplies, and report shortages to the supervisor.
• Assist with opening and closing procedures, including cash handling and daily reconciliation.
• Support the preparation of light snacks, pastries, and sandwiches when required.
• Follow health, safety, and sanitation procedures at all times.
• Contribute to events and university functions held on campus.

• Ability to work in a fast-pacedenvironment and stand for extended periods
• Flexibility to work shifts,including early mornings and in line with the academic calendar
• Valid Food Handler’s Health Card(or willingness to obtain one)

Preferred:

• Barista certification orhospitality training
• Previous experience in auniversity, corporate, or high-volume cafe
• Basic cashier experience
• Ability to work in amulticultural environment
