Job summary

InterContinental Doha Beach & Spa is seeking an experienced AV Supervisor to oversee the day-to-day delivery of audio-visual services for meetings, conferences, weddings, and other hotel events. You will lead on-site AV setup, testing, operation, and maintenance, ensuring high-quality experiences for guests and event organizers, in collaboration with Events, Banquets, Engineering and other teams.

Your Day to Day

As an AV Supervisor, you will be responsible for overseeing the day-to-day delivery of audio-visual services across meetings, conferences, weddings, social events, and other hotel functions.

You will lead the on-site execution of AV requirements, ensuring that all equipment is professionally set up, tested, operated, and maintained while delivering a seamless and high-quality experience for our guests and event organizers.

Working closely with the Events, Banquets, Engineering, and other operational teams, you will ensure that every event is delivered safely, efficiently, and in line with the high standards of InterContinental Hotels & Resorts.

Key Responsibilities

• Supervise the day-to-day operation of the hotel's audio-visual function, ensuring professional and timely delivery of all AV requirements.
• Coordinate and oversee the setup, operation, and dismantling of AV equipment for meetings, conferences, weddings, banquets, exhibitions, and other events.
• Review event requirements, function sheets, floor plans, and technical specifications to ensure all AV needs are fully understood and prepared in advance.
• Conduct comprehensive equipment checks and testing prior to each event to ensure all systems are functioning correctly.
• Operate and supervise the operation of audio systems, microphones, speakers, projectors, LED screens, displays, lighting, video equipment, and other event technology.
• Provide on-site technical support throughout events and respond promptly to technical issues or last-minute changes.
• Ensure appropriate equipment is available, prepared, and positioned according to the event requirements and agreed setup.
• Coordinate closely with the Events and Banquets teams to ensure smooth event execution and effective communication throughout each function.
• Liaise with event organizers, meeting planners, and guests to understand technical requirements and provide professional advice and support.
• Supervise external AV suppliers and contractors when required, ensuring their work complies with hotel requirements and agreed event specifications.
• Maintain accurate records of AV equipment, inventory, maintenance requirements, and equipment movements.
• Ensure AV equipment is handled, stored, and maintained correctly to maximize reliability and useful life.
• Identify equipment faults and coordinate timely repairs or replacement with Engineering, suppliers, or relevant service providers.
• Ensure all AV setups comply with hotel health and safety requirements and relevant operational standards.
• Maintain a clean, organized, and professional AV storage and working environment.
• Assist with event planning, technical site inspections, and room setup requirements when required.
• Support the implementation of new AV technology and identify opportunities to enhance the hotel's event offering.
• Monitor AV-related operating costs and support effective utilization of equipment and resources.
• Prepare and maintain required operational reports and records.
• Act as the primary AV point of contact during assigned events and ensure effective communication between all relevant departments.
• Support the AV Manager or relevant department head with projects, equipment upgrades, and other operational initiatives.
• Deliver a professional and seamless technical experience that supports the success of every event.
• Anticipate potential technical challenges and take preventative action before and during events.
• Ensure all technical elements contribute positively to the overall event experience without disrupting the guest journey.
• Ensure all AV equipment is tested and fully operational before events commence.
• Maintain working knowledge of professional audio, video, projection, lighting, presentation, and conferencing technologies.
• Troubleshoot common technical issues and implement effective solutions with minimal disruption to the event.
• Ensure appropriate backup equipment and contingency arrangements are available for critical events where required.
• Maintain equipment according to manufacturer recommendations and hotel standards.
• Monitor the condition and availability of AV inventory and report any damage, loss, or technical issues promptly.
• Ensure all equipment is safely transported, installed, operated, and stored.
• Keep up to date with emerging AV technologies and industry practices relevant to the hotel's events business.

What We Are Looking For

• Previous experience in an AV supervisory or senior AV role, preferably within a luxury hotel, resort, conference venue, events company, or similar environment.
• Strong practical knowledge of professional audio, video, projection, lighting, and event technology.
• Experience supporting a wide range of events, including conferences, corporate meetings, weddings, social events, and large-scale functions.
• Good understanding of event setup, technical production, troubleshooting, and live event support.
• Excellent problem-solving skills and the ability to remain calm under pressure.
• Previous experience within an international hotel or luxury hospitality environment is an advantage.
