Tanqeeb is seeking an Alterations Specialist for our retail operations in Doha. The role focuses on providing expert alteration services to ensure garments fit perfectly and meet customer preferences, enhancing the shopping experience with personalized solutions.

The ideal candidate has strong sewing skills, fabric knowledge, and precise measurement abilities. You will work on fittings, pattern creation, and cost estimation while maintaining high quality and customer satisfaction.

Qualifications

• Minimum 5 years of overall work experience.
• At least 3 years of relevant alteration experience.
• GCC experience is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Take customers' measurements and perform fittings and alterations.
• Discuss styles and fabrics; cut fabric pieces and stitch by hand or machine.
• Create or adapt garment patterns, using hand methods or computer software.
• Estimate garment cost and production time, and prepare mock-ups with fabric scraps.
• Carry out repairs and alterations to clothing as required.
• Coordinate fitter sessions and mark alterations precisely.
• Create or adapt designs, verifying fabric and style with supervisor and supplier.
• Determine time-to-produce and cost estimates for garments.
• Produce patterns by hand or CAD, and manage garment orders and stock.

Job Summary

The Alterations Specialist in retail operations is responsible to provide expert alteration services to customers, ensuring garments fit perfectly and meet their preferences. They strive to enhance the shopping experience by offering personalized alteration solutions and maintaining high-quality standards to ensure customer satisfaction and loyalty.

Job Responsibilities 1

• Take customers' measurements, fit the mock-up to the customer to make alterations, fitting, and marking final adjustments.
• Discuss styles and fabric, cutting out fabric pieces to make the garment, stitching clothes by hand or machine.
• Create a design by hand or using computer software.
• Calculate how much the clothing will cost and how long it will take to make, creating a new pattern or adapting an existing one, and making a mock-up garment using cheaper fabrics.
• Carry out repairs and alterations to clothing.
• Conduct the fitting the garment and marking any alterations.
• Create a design (either by adapting and existing pattern or developing a new design)
• Ensure agreement with the fabric and style with Direct Supervisor and supplier.
• Ensure to working out how long it will take and the cost of producing the garment.
• Produce a pattern, either by hand or using computer aided design.
• In charge of requesting garments, washing supplies, and stocks.

Job Knowledge & Skills

Proficiency in various sewing techniques, including hemming, tapering, and adjusting seams, to perform garment alterations accurately and efficiently.

Understanding of different fabric types and their characteristics to determine appropriate alteration methods and ensure quality results without damaging the material.

Accurate measurement-taking abilities to assess garment fit and determine necessary alterations, ensuring precise adjustments tailored to Strong interpersonal skills to communicate effectively with customers, understand their alteration requirements, and provide personalized recommendations to meet their expectations.

Keen attention to detail to ensure precise alterations and meticulous finishing touches, delivering garments that meet high-quality standards and exceed customer expectations

Job Experience

Minimum 5 year(s) working experience, 3 year(s) relevant working experience, 2 year (s) GCC is a plus
