The Role

• We’re hiring a Senior Frontend Platform Engineer (Marketing Site) to join our engineering team. This is a full‑time (40 hrs/week), remote position with long‑term potential.
• You’ll take ownership of Hubstaff’s marketing site frontend architecture - built with Astro, Vue 3, and Payload CMS - ensuring it remains performant, maintainable, and delightful to use.
• You’ll work closely with our Engineering Manager, designers, and backend developers to evolve our design system, improve content workflows, and deliver seamless, high‑performing user experiences.

What You’ll Do

• Own and evolve the frontend architecture of our Astro + Vue 3 website.
• Collaborate with designers and backend developers to translate UI/UX concepts into maintainable, accessible, and responsive code.
• Extend and refine our integrations with Payload CMS and other self‑hosted headless CMS platforms, defining reusable content structures and dynamic components.
• Implement performant, SEO‑friendly static rendering strategies using Astro’s hybrid rendering model.
• Continuously improve site performance (Core Web Vitals, Lighthouse scores, caching strategies).
• Support and maintain our self‑hosted WordPress resources, ensuring reliability, security, and seamless integration with the broader site ecosystem.
• Coordinate updates and integrations between WordPress and our static site infrastructure when needed.
• Document and maintain developer and content‑editor workflows for consistent implementation.
• Introduce and maintain automated frontend testing and CI/CD improvements.
• Stay up to date with frontend best practices, accessibility, and emerging frameworks.

What You Should Have

• 5+ years of professional frontend development experience, with at least 2+ years working with Vue.js or similar component‑based frameworks (React, Svelte).
• Proven experience with static site generators (Astro, Nuxt, Next, etc.) and self‑hosted headless CMS integrations (Payload CMS or similar).
• Strong understanding of performance optimization, responsive design, and accessibility.
• Deep experience with Git‑based workflows and collaborative development.
• Solid understanding of component‑driven design and maintainable architecture.
• Experience working asynchronously in fully remote teams.
• A history of multi‑year tenure in recent roles.

Nice to Have

• Experience with Ruby on Rails, particularly integrating frontend layers with Rails‑based systems.
• Familiarity with managed headless CMS platforms such as Storyblok, Contentful, or Sanity.
• Experience with Payload CMS plugin development or API customization.
• Knowledge of analytics, A/B testing, or feature‑flag systems (e.g., Statsig, Segment, Posthog).
• Experience supporting and maintaining self‑managed WordPress environments is a plus.
• An eye for design systems, motion design (e.g., Anime.js), and UI consistency.
