HumanIT Digital Consulting is seeking a Senior AI Engineer to own the core machinery behind its AI-driven delivery accelerators. This hands-on, high-impact role focuses on designing, building, and evaluating agentic systems deployed in production.

You will lead end-to-end development—from prompt design and function calling to evaluation pipelines and telemetry—ensuring reliability, observability, and cost control in a remote Portugal setting.

Qualificações

• At least 6 years of professional experience as an AI Engineer or in a similar role.
• Strong production software engineering skills: Python, testing, packaging, CI/CD, async, REST, Docker — you build products, not scripts.
• Real depth in LLM application engineering: prompt design, function calling, structured outputs, RAG, vector stores, with the Anthropic and OpenAI APIs.
• Evaluation-driven development as a core habit — you treat evals as the source of truth.
• Hands-on experience building agentic systems end to end: systems that plan, write code, validate their own output, and improve over time.

Responsabilidades

• Own the reusable accelerator core and multi-agent workflows, including coding, planning, review, and testing agents with tool‑calling and human-in-the-loop design.
• Build and maintain evaluation pipelines and telemetry to measure quality and detect regressions.
• Ensure reliability, cost control, and observability for agentic systems in production.
• Be the reason delivery teams can trust the output of non-deterministic systems.

ABOUT THE OPPORTUNITY

A growing technology company known for building software that improves lives is looking for a Senior AI Engineer to own the core machinery behind its AI-driven delivery accelerators. This is a high-impact, hands‑on role for someone who wants to shape how agentic systems are built, evaluated, and trusted in production — not just prototyped.

PROJECT & CONTEXT

You’ll take ownership of the reusable accelerator core and the multi‑agent workflows built on top of it, including coding, planning, review, and testing agents with tool‑calling and human‑in‑the‑loop design where it adds real value. This includes building and maintaining the evaluation pipelines and telemetry that make quality measurable and regressions visible, as well as ensuring reliability, cost control, and observability for agentic systems operating in real‑world use. You’ll be the reason delivery teams can trust the output of a non‑deterministic system.

WHAT WE'RE LOOKING FOR (Required)

• At least 6 years of professional experience as an AI Engineer or in a similar role
• Strong production software engineering skills: Python, testing, packaging, CI/CD, async, REST, Docker — you build products, not scripts
• Real depth in LLM application engineering: prompt design, function calling, structured outputs, RAG, vector stores, with the Anthropic and OpenAI APIs
• Evaluation‑driven development as a core habit — you treat evals as the source of truth
• Hands‑on experience building agentic systems end to end: systems that plan, write code, validate their own output, and improve over time
• Familiarity with the orchestration landscape (LangGraph, LlamaIndex, AutoGen, CrewAI) and a clear point of view on when a thin custom harness beats a framework
• Working fluency with at least one cloud data platform and SQL, enough to build eval and verification infrastructure

Compensation: €2,200 – €2,800/month net, depending on experience and seniority level.
