Codacy, a remote-first company, seeks an Intermediate Backend Software Engineer in Portugal to contribute to its core cloud engine and CLI/IDE tools. You will develop backend services in Scala, work across multiple stacks, and engage in design reviews and production troubleshooting.

Applicants should have strong Scala or JVM language experience, knowledge of microservices and distributed systems, and comfort with cloud-based services.

Qualificações

• Experience with Scala or other JVM-based languages such as Java or Kotlin.
• Understanding of functional programming principles.
• Solid knowledge of API design, microservices, distributed systems, and cloud-based services.
• Solid knowledge of SQL and data storage systems.
• Experience with CI/CD pipelines, Kubernetes, and Docker.
• Proficiency with Git and Git workflows.
• Strong problem-solving skills and ability to work remotely.
• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or related field is a plus.
• Good communication skills and fluency in English.

Responsabilidades

• Contribute to a product-focused squad, developing core features and components.
• Take ownership of features from design and implementation through deployment and monitoring.
• Design, develop, test, and optimize backend services in Scala for high availability and scalability.
• Occasionally contribute to tools in TypeScript and Go projects.
• Work with technologies like Cats-Effect, http4s, RabbitMQ, Kubernetes, and PostgreSQL.
• Review code and provide constructive feedback to maintain high standards in quality and security.
• Collaborate on technical design discussions and architecture decisions.
• Troubleshoot and resolve complex production and non-production issues.
• Improve deployment pipelines, observability, and production reliability.
