University of Aveiro, Centre for Environmental and Marine Studies (CESAM), invites applications for a Postdoctoral Fellowship in Biochemistry related to microalgae as a sustainable food ingredient. The project focuses on biochemical characterization, lipid profiling, and bioactive potential assessment using LC-MS/GC-MS and cell-based models.

Salary follows the University of Aveiro regulations with a 6-month grant, renewable for up to 3 years, starting November 2026. The worksite is CESAM/Dept.

Qualificações

• Doctorate in Biochemistry or related field.
• Proven experience in biochemical characterization of food products.
• Experience with lipid analysis and chromatographic techniques (LC-MS, GC-MS).
• Experience in bioprospecting of bioactive extracts and cell-based activity assessment valued.

Responsabilidades

• Biochemical characterization of Chlorella biomass under different cultivation conditions, including proximate analysis, lipid composition, and fatty acid profile.
• Evaluate bioactive potential of extracts via antioxidant and anti-inflammatory assays in vitro.
• Participate in scientific outreach, attend progress meetings, and contribute to technical-scientific reports.
