You will adapt pedagogy to diverse learners, collaborate with grade-level colleagues, participate in professional development, and communicate regularly with parents through reports and meetings in a bilingual international setting.

Qualificações

• University degree in Primary Education, Portuguese Studies, or equivalent teaching qualification.
• Valid registration to teach the Portuguese national curriculum.
• Proven experience teaching Portuguese to junior/primary students.
• Native or near-native Portuguese with strong English communication.

ROLE SUMMARY

We are seeking a passionate, dynamic, and qualified Portuguese Teacher to join our Junior School team at the Alfragide Campus. The successful candidate will be responsible for teaching the Portuguese Language curriculum to young learners, creating an engaging, inclusive, and stimulating classroom environment that encourages linguistic competence and a love for reading and culture.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

• Plan, prepare, and deliver high‑quality Portuguese lessons aligned with the curriculum framework and the school’s pedagogical approach.
• Adapt teaching methods and materials to support the diverse learning needs and language proficiencies of all students.
• Integrate innovative, inquiry‑based, and digital learning strategies to make lessons highly interactive and engaging.
• Monitor, assess, and record student progress systematically, providing constructive feedback to guide their academic growth.
• Maintain a safe, respectful, and positive classroom environment that supports the emotional and social well‑being of young learners.
• Communicate regularly and professionally with parents regarding student development, including preparing reports and attending conferences.
• Collaborate closely with grade‑level colleagues and participate actively in department meetings, professional development, and school events.

THE IDEAL CANDIDATE WILL HAVE

• University Degree (Licenciatura/Mestrado) in Primary Education, Portuguese Studies, or equivalent teaching qualification.
• Valid registration and habilitation to teach the Portuguese national curriculum.
• Proven experience teaching Portuguese to Junior School/Primary aged children, preferably in bilingual or international environments.
• Native or near‑native fluency in Portuguese, with strong communication skills in English to thrive in a multicultural setting.
