We are currently hiring a Middle Backend Developer to join our I&E HUB in Lisbon.

What do we do in our team?

Rolling Fleet MAN Connectivity team is a part of the Vehicle Connectivity ecosystem and is responsible for the stream‑based communication channel between the MAN vehicles and the cloud backend that supports the digital products in the MAN portfolio.

We are an agile and self‑managed DevOps team which develops all services and cloud infrastructure (AWS) needed to assure the encrypted, robust and reliable communication channel the MAN customers need for their day‑to‑day work.

We work in a product‑oriented development, and our team owns the product and has autonomy to decide how the product will evolve.

Our product provides, among other services, Secure Connectivity, message routing, message decoding, vehicle APIs, integration with other systems and manages client certificates for the connected devices.

What will your responsibilities be?

• Create, test, deploy and run (DevOps) backend solutions and internal tools using modern cloud infrastructure, being responsible for the entire software lifecycle;
• Maintain cloud native microservices using containers, serverless functions, RESTful APIs and event streaming;
• Develop and maintain functionality for our trucks using agile methodologies;
• Create prototypes, Minimum Valuable Products (MVPs) and products;
• Be able to take end to end responsibility for the products owned;
• Take initiative to solve problems and overcome roadblocks;
• Solve problems in innovative and pragmatic ways;
• Advise the team and other teams on all questions around backend and tool development in an automotive IoT environment and work together on continuously improving the service, tooling and processes (is a plus).

What requirements are we looking for?

• Bachelor's degree in related field or comparable job expertise;
• At least 3 years of professional experience;
• Solid experience with backend development in Java with focus on RESTful APIs and event driven architecture (e.g. Kafka, Kinesis, SQS, MQTT);
• Relevant knowledge in frameworks, ideally Spring Boot;
• Relevant knowledge of relational database management systems (like Aurora);
• Solid experience with Clean Code and Clean Architecture principles as well as common software design patterns. Emphasis on quality, maintainability and usability;
• Experience with CI/CD and microservice architectures;
• Relevant experience in the conception and implementation of complex software solutions in an international context;
• Agile and DevOps mindset;
• Very good English skills, both written and spoken;
• Experience in using and integrating cloud services (preferably AWS) with cloud paradigms like Infrastructure‑as‑code (IaC), PaaS, alerting and monitoring is a plus;
• Knowledge of Python for rapid prototyping and tooling is a plus;
