Coloplast, a leading medical devices company, is seeking a Supply Chain Material Planner in Portugal to ensure material availability and optimal inventory levels to support production schedules. You will coordinate with production planning, site master planning, procurement and suppliers to plan, schedule and monitor material flow, maintain ERP data, and report on KPIs.

This role requires collaboration across functions and a proactive approach to risk management.

Qualificações

  • Industrial engineer or equivalent degree.
  • At least 5 years in supply chain planning roles.
  • Experience in a manufacturing environment.
  • Experience in medical devices is a plus.
  • Ability to travel up to 3 weeks at a time, max 9 weeks per year (first year).

Responsabilidades

  • Plan, schedule, and monitor material flow according to production needs.
  • Develop and maintain MRPs, generate and manage purchase orders.
  • Optimize inventory levels and monitor stock health.
  • Collaborate with production planning, site master planning, procurement, warehouse, and suppliers.
  • Provide input to Local S&OP and participate in planning meetings.
  • Maintain accurate material data in ERP systems and generate KPIs.

The Supply Chain Material Planner is responsible for ensuring the availability of materials to support production schedules while maintaining optimal inventory levels and following the global material replenishment process. This role involves coordinating with production planners, site master planner, procurement, production, warehouse and suppliers to plan, schedule, and monitor material flow in alignment with requirements.

Major Areas of Accountability
  • Material Planning & Scheduling – guarantee adherence to the Global Material planning process; develop & maintain material requirement plans (MRP) based on production schedules & forecasts; generate & manage purchase orders; monitor & adjust plans as needed; proactively communicate and take action when delays or risks occur.
  • Inventory Management – optimize inventory levels to prevent shortages or excess stock; track slow‑moving & obsolete items & recommend disposition strategies; conduct regular inventory analysis and reconcile discrepancies with warehouse & production; collaborate with suppliers to confirm material availability, delivery dates & order acknowledgements; proactively resolve potential supply disruptions and elevate risks as needed; monitor supplier performance related to on‑time delivery and material quality.
  • Cross‑Functional Collaboration – work closely with Production Planning, Site Master Planning, production and warehouse to ensure alignment on material requirements, inventory levels and timelines; provide input to Local S&OP and participate in planning meetings as needed.
  • System & Data Management – maintain accurate material data in ERP systems (e.g., item lead times, order quantities, safety stock); generate reports and KPIs related to material planning performance and inventory health.
Essential Qualifications
  • Industrial Engineer or similar
  • Minimum of 5 years in Supply Chain Planning related roles
  • Must have manufacturing environment related experience
  • Experience in medical devices company is a plus
  • Travel up to continuous periods of 3 weeks, for a maximum of 9 weeks per year (only during first year) and afterwards up to 10% per year.
Required Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
  • Planning, analytical and proactive mindset
  • Good understanding of databases (preferably Oracle databases)
  • Experienced use of IT systems (e.g., Excel and ERP systems) – an advantage
  • Ability to execute several tasks in parallel
  • Team player with good communication skills
  • Capability of working independently with limited guidance
  • Black Belt or Lean certification is a plus
  • APICS is a plus
