Role Description

The Empregado de Mesa role at Bougain Restaurant & Garden Bar is a full-time, on-site position based in Lisbon. Day-to-day responsibilities include welcoming guests, presenting menus, taking food and beverage orders, serving meals and drinks, and ensuring tables are properly set and maintained throughout service. The role also involves processing payments, answering questions about the menu, coordinating with kitchen and bar staff, and resolving guest requests or concerns promptly and courteously. Empregados de Mesa are expected to follow hygiene and safety standards, support opening and closing procedures, and contribute to the overall cleanliness and organization of the restaurant and garden bar. The position requires a professional, guest-oriented attitude and the ability to work effectively during busy periods, including evenings, weekends, and holidays.

Qualifications

• Experience in table service or a similar front-of-house role in restaurants, bars, or cafes.
• Strong customer service skills, including a polite, attentive, and solution-oriented approach to guest interactions.
• Ability to communicate clearly and professionally; proficiency in Portuguese and good command of English are highly beneficial.
• Basic knowledge of food and beverage service, including menu presentation, order taking, and serving standards.
• Capacity to work well under pressure, manage multiple tables, and maintain organization during peak hours.
• Reliability, punctuality, and a positive team-oriented attitude, with willingness to assist colleagues as needed.
