Explore Group is seeking two Backend Software Engineers to design, scale, and optimise high-concurrency distributed platforms using Python. You will tackle core architectural challenges around high-throughput data processing, real-time streaming, and cloud-native microservices infrastructure.

Responsibilities include building low-latency services with FastAPI/Asyncio/Django, deploying with Docker and Kubernetes, and integrating real-time messaging with Kafka, RabbitMQ, or NATS.

About the Role

We are refreshing our search to bring on two Backend Software Engineers to design, scale, and optimise high-concurrency, distributed platforms using Python.

In this role, you will tackle core architectural challenges involving high-throughput data processing, real-time asynchronous streaming, and cloud-native microservices infrastructure.

What You Will Do

• Python Engineering: Build low-latency, thread-safe asynchronous services using FastAPI, Asyncio, or Django.
• Cloud-Native Operations: Deploy and manage containerised systems orchestrated via Kubernetes and Docker.
• Event-Driven Messaging: Integrate and scale message brokers (Kafka, RabbitMQ, or NATS) for real-time streaming pipelines.
• Data & Performance Tuning: Optimise database query paths, relational schemas, and in-memory caching using PostgreSQL and Redis.
• Observability & Infrastructure: Monitor live system health and automate deployment tracks using GitOps tools (Grafana, Prometheus, Argo CD).

• Python Expertise: Solid commercial background delivering production-grade backend APIs or data pipelines in Python.
• Infrastructure Literacy: Hands-on experience navigating Docker, Kubernetes networks, and CI/CD automation pipelines.

Bonus Points

• Familiarity with secondary languages (Go, Rust, or C++).
• Experience with heavy data engineering workflows (Argo Workflows).
