Mercedes-Benz.io in Braga, Portugal, seeks an AI Engineer to shape the next generation of AI-powered products. You will design, build, and scale AI systems, collaborating with product teams and domain experts to deliver measurable impact.

You will primarily work with Python, with Kotlin and TypeScript for embedding AI capabilities into domain systems, using modern AI tooling and agent frameworks.

Qualificações

• Proven experience designing, building, and operating production-ready AI systems.
• Hands-on experience building AI-powered applications with LLMs, prompting strategies, tool integration.
• Strong understanding of AI system design, agent architectures, and orchestration patterns.
• Ability to evaluate technical and business trade-offs to choose effective solutions.
• Experience designing retrieval and knowledge systems (embeddings, retrieval pipelines, context engineering).

Responsabilidades

• Analyze and decompose complex problems to identify AI-driven value.
• Evaluate models, frameworks, and technologies for production readiness.
• Design, build, and operate AI systems including single and multi-agent architectures.
• Develop AI-powered applications using LLMs, prompts, and tool-calling capabilities.
• Build retrieval and knowledge systems with embeddings and context management.
• Implement Responsible AI practices with privacy protections and governance.
• Define evaluation strategies with test data, quality checks, and performance metrics.
• Ensure production reliability with observability and monitoring.
