Job summary

JP Morgan Chase in Poland seeks a Vice President, Financial Controller to lead a team of financial controllers and oversee the General Ledger month-end close for multiple EMEA entities within Global HR. The role requires 5+ years of people management and deep expertise in GL entries, balance sheet reconciliations, variance analysis, internal controls, and audit participation.

Qualifications

• 8+ years of experience in General Ledger month-end close and financial reporting.
• 5+ years of people management or team leadership experience.
• Strong accounting proficiency and knowledge of US GAAP.
• Strong Excel skills and experience with no/low-code analytics platforms.
• Excellent written and verbal communication, able to explain complex topics to non-specialists.
• Ability to work independently and collaboratively with stakeholders.

• Oversee monthly, quarterly, and annual cycles; train new staff and engage in BAU activities as required.

• Guide day-to-day collaboration with internal HR teams, legal entity controllership, Tax, payroll vendors and auditors.
• Support global and regional initiatives and automations for HR/Payroll accounting and entity changes (M&A, closures, transfers).

Are you ready to make a meaningful impact in the world of financial control? As a Vice President, Financial Controller, you will lead and manage a team of financial controllers, overseeing the General Ledger month-end close process for a number of EMEA entities within the Global HR organization, and ensuring the accuracy, integrity, and timeliness of the Firm’s books and records for compensation and benefits. This is a people manager role requiring 5+ years of team leadership experience, in addition to deep technical expertise across General Ledger entries, Balance Sheet reconciliation and substantiation, variance analysis and reporting, internal controls, and participation in internal and external audit.

The Financial Controller function is primarily focused on ensuring and improving the organization’s credibility through accounting, financial controls, systems, and reporting. This position is aligned with the Corporate Sectors Controllers – Global HR organization, and you will be accountable for team oversight and the integrity of the General Ledger and financial reporting, the internal control environment, and the close transaction cycle, as well as for the development and performance of your team.

Job responsibilities

• Manage HR accounting and reporting within certain EMEA locations, and other end-of-period activities, overseeing execution across monthly, quarterly, and annual cycles, including providing training for new staff and, as required, direct engagement in business-as-usual (BAU) activities,
• Ensure team’s adherence to defined financial control activities, including segregation of duties, variance analyses, general ledger reconciliation process and the SOX compliance,
• Guide the team in its day-to-day collaboration with stakeholders, including internal local HR teams, Legal entity controllership teams, Tax, others, and external groups such as payroll vendors and auditors,
• Support and partner in the execution of global- and regional-level initiatives and automations for HR/Payroll Accounting, as well as legal entity structure changes such as M&As, entity closures, and employee transfers,
• Team Leadership and People Management, including annual performance review cycle, development and feedback discussions, recruiting and onboarding as needed.

Required qualifications, capabilities, and skills

• 8+ years of experience in General Ledger month-end close and financial reporting,
• 5+ years of people management or team leadership experience, with proven ability to lead and develop a team while working effectively with a range of stakeholders,
• Strong accounting proficiency and in-depth knowledge of accounting principles including US GAAP,
• Strong Excel skills, with experience using no/low-code automated analytics platforms,
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills with the ability to explain complex topics clearly to non-specialists,
• Ability to work independently and collaboratively, contributing to shared goals across the broader organization.

Preferred qualifications, capabilities, and skills

• Previous payroll accounting experience desirable.
