Job summary

Citi is seeking a Valuation Control Senior Analyst to join the Valuation Control Group within the Finance Division. You will perform core valuation control processes, own discrepancies, and drive policy enhancements while ensuring regulatory remediations and audit readiness.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Finance, Economics, Quantitative Finance or related field.
  • 5-10 years of experience in Finance (valuations, product control, risk or similar).
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with track record of resolving valuation issues.
  • Solid understanding of accounting and regulatory developments in valuation of financial instruments.
  • Knowledge of a broad range of financial instruments and valuation methodologies.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication, able to convey complex concepts to diverse audiences.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and data analysis.

Responsibilities

  • Perform IPV, valuation adjustments and fair value levelling production.
  • Own identified valuation discrepancies and investigate root causes, coordinating with teams for timely resolution.
  • Develop, enhance and document valuation control policies and methodologies.
  • Ensure remediation of regulatory matters, audit findings, and reporting requirements.
  • Represent VCG in cross-functional initiatives and discussions with auditors or regulators.
  • Contribute to strategic projects to strengthen valuation control framework and improve efficiency.
  • People management where applicable.

Valuation Control Senior Analyst

The Valuation Control Group (VCG) is an independent team of subject matter experts within the Finance Division. VCG's primary responsibility is to reasonably ensure that risk portfolios are fairly valued in accordance with applicable standards and regulatory requirements. In doing so, the team works closely with stakeholders, including senior management, product controllers, market risk, regulators, and both internal and external audit.

As part of the team of diverse and supportive professionals, the main tasks involve performing valuation control processes for businesses within Citi's Institutional Clients Group. We are seeking a highly motivated candidate to work within the Valuation Control Group as a senior finance analyst.

In this position, you will use and expand your experience and professional skills for the following responsibilities:

What you'll do
  • Perform valuation control related core production: Independent Price Verification (IPV), Valuation Adjustments, Fair Value Levelling.
  • Take full ownership of identified valuation discrepancies, conducting thorough investigations into root causes, collaborating with relevant teams for timely resolution, and clearly communicating findings to management.
  • Drive the development, enhancement, and documentation of valuation control policies, procedures, and methodologies with particular attention to the design of controls, incorporating evolving industry best practices and regulatory requirements.
  • Ensure timely remediation of regulatory matters requiring attention, audit findings and reporting demands associated with the area of responsibility.
  • Represent VCG in cross-functional initiatives, working groups, and discussions with internal and external auditors or regulatory bodies.
  • Actively contribute to strategic projects aimed at strengthening the firm's valuation control framework and improving operational efficiency.
  • People management dependent on the level and scope of the position.

The ideal candidate for this position preferably possesses the following qualifications and skills:

What we'll need from you
  • Bachelor's degree in Finance, Economics, Quantitative Finance, Mathematics, or a closely related quantitative discipline.
  • 5-10 years' professional experience in Finance (preferably in Valuations, Product Control, Risk, Financial Control, or similar functions).
  • Exceptional analytical, critical thinking, and problem-solving abilities, with a proven track record of resolving complex valuation issues independently.
  • Strong understanding of current global accounting and regulatory developments pertaining to valuation of financial instruments.
  • In-depth knowledge of a broad range of financial instruments, market dynamics, and valuation methodologies.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to articulate complex financial concepts and valuation results effectively to both technical and non-technical audiences, including senior management.
  • Strong computer literacy with emphasis on Microsoft Excel.
  • Experience in leading, mentoring, or coaching teams is highly desirable for certain roles within this function.
