Job description

For our transformer service business, understanding the full potential of our technology and trends in our markets is highly rewarding. In addition, helping customers all over the world improve efficiency, save resources, and reduce emissions gives our work a powerful sense of purpose.

Our Transformer Service business is part of the Global Product Group Transformer Components and Services.

Working as a Transformer Diagnostics Specialist, you will ideate, develop, implement, and maintain diagnostic methodologies and algorithms to assess the condition of power transformers and their critical components, translating operational and monitoring data into actionable information.

You will support our customers in managing their transformer fleets throughout the asset lifecycle by providing expert monitoring and diagnostic services, safeguarding electrical infrastructure through the early detection of potential failures, enabling predictive maintenance, optimizing asset utilization, and minimizing downtime.

The ideal candidate will bring strong expertise in Dissolved Gas Analysis (DGA) and Partial Discharge (PD) diagnostics. Experience with the design, application, operation, or interpretation of transformer monitoring systems and diagnostic algorithms is highly desirable.

You will be accountable for maintaining technology leadership in transformer monitoring and diagnostics while contributing to customer satisfaction and profitable growth.

Our flexible work practices help you optimize personal and business performance while creating an environment where all employees can develop their skills and grow. For this role, we follow a hybrid work structure where you can work remotely or from the office as needed, based on the demands of specific tasks or personal work preferences.

Your Responsibilities
  • Stay up to date with the latest technology solutions, international standards, market trends, and customer requirements related to transformer monitoring, diagnostics, and condition assessment.
  • Serve as a subject matter expert in Dissolved Gas Analysis (DGA), Partial Discharge (PD) diagnostics, and transformer condition assessment methodologies.
  • Propose and develop novel solutions for transformer monitoring, diagnostics, and asset health management.
  • Work closely with product management to define monitoring and diagnostic service development roadmaps.
  • Drive the development, validation, implementation, and continuous improvement of diagnostic algorithms, ensuring they are properly documented and integrated into applicable software and digital platforms.
  • Support the design, evaluation, and application of transformer monitoring systems, including online monitoring technologies for DGA, PD, bushings, moisture, and other critical parameters.
  • Prepare training materials and deliver technical training sessions to service units, customers, and internal stakeholders.
  • Participate in international standardization and pre-standardization activities related to transformer diagnostics and monitoring.
  • Provide deep technical support for root cause analyses and failure investigations, ensuring lessons learned are incorporated into diagnostic methodologies and algorithms.
  • Provide advanced technical support to Engineering, Product Management, Service, Sales and other functions, including participation in customer and supplier meetings as needed.
  • Support technical publications, industry working groups, conferences and trade shows to strengthen the company’s technical leadership and better understand customer needs.
  • Live the core values of safety and integrity by taking responsibility for your actions while caring for your colleagues, customers, and the business.
Your Background
  • Bachelor’s or master’s degree in electrical engineering or a related field.
  • Strong technical expertise in Dissolved Gas Analysis (DGA) and Partial Discharge (PD) diagnostics for power transformers.
  • Experience in transformer condition assessment, transformer testing, asset management, monitoring or diagnostics.
  • Knowledge of transformer failure modes, insulation systems, and condition‑based maintenance practices.
  • Experience with transformer monitoring systems, sensor technologies, data analytics, AI/ML applications, or diagnostic algorithm development is considered a strong advantage.
  • Familiarity with industry standards such as IEEE, IEC and CIGRE related to transformer diagnostics and monitoring.
  • Strong analytical and problem‑solving skills with the ability to translate data into meaningful recommendations.
  • Excellent communication skills and ability to collaborate in a global, multidisciplinary environment.
  • Willingness to travel occasionally to customer sites, factories, conferences and technical meetings.
  • Responsible to ensure compliance with applicable external and internal regulations, procedures and guidelines.
