Job summary

Vertex Agility in Kraków is seeking a Senior Test Automation Engineer to own the test automation strategy across a modernization program. You will work with modern technologies including .NET 9, React, TypeScript, Playwright and Azure, building automation across unit, API, integration and E2E layers.

This is a hands-on and highly autonomous role where you will shape automation frameworks, integrate testing into CI/CD and establish best practices across the development team.

Qualifications

• 5+ years of commercial test automation experience.
• Strong C# / .NET skills to write, debug and review production-quality code.
• Solid Playwright experience; Selenium welcomed.
• Experience with xUnit / NUnit and Vitest / Jest.
• Experience integrating tests into Azure DevOps or GitHub Actions CI/CD.
• Good SQL skills, ideally MSSQL / Azure SQL.
• Experience with REST API testing and authentication mechanisms such as OAuth/JWT/Azure AD.
• Solid Git, code reviews and clean code practices.
• Independent with ownership of automation strategy and roadmap.

Responsibilities

• Own and evolve the test automation strategy across the project.
• Design and implement automation across unit, API, integration and E2E layers.
• Build and maintain Playwright automation for React applications.
• Develop backend tests using C# / .NET and xUnit.
• Work with Vitest / Jest for frontend testing.
• Integrate automated tests into Azure DevOps CI/CD pipelines, including PR checks, nightly runs and release gates.
• Improve test execution through parallelisation and test sharding.
• Establish best practices around testability, coverage, test data and maintainable test code.
• Test REST APIs, authentication flows and data across Azure SQL / MSSQL.
• Investigate failures, eliminate flaky tests and continuously improve automation reliability.
• Work with developers and BAs to improve acceptance criteria and overall test coverage.
• Review automation code and support developers in building more testable applications.
• Support UAT activities when required.

Requirements:

• Strong hands-on C# / .NET skills, with the ability to write, debug and review production-quality code.
• Solid experience with Playwright; Selenium experience is also welcome.
• Experience with xUnit / NUnit and Vitest / Jest.
• Experience integrating automated tests into Azure DevOps or GitHub Actions CI/CD pipelines.
• Good SQL skills, ideally with MSSQL / Azure SQL.
• Experience with REST API testing and authentication mechanisms such as OAut, JWT or Azure AD.
• Good understanding of Git, code reviews and clean code practices.
• Strong engineering mindset with a focus on reliability, maintainability and meaningful test coverage.
• Ability to work independently and take ownership of the automation approach and roadmap.
• B2+ English for everyday technical communication.
