Job summary

Venice is seeking a Staff Database Engineer to help architect and operationalize data infrastructure at scale. You will own data modeling, schema design, and the reliability of data across engineering, product, finance, and operations.

You will drive canonical datasets, data lineage, and governance while enabling SQL-driven analytics and AI-assisted data access for multiple teams. This is an individual contributor role with strong technical ownership.

Qualifications

• Significant experience designing and operating data systems at scale.
• Expert-level SQL and relational DB knowledge with a PostgreSQL focus.
• Deep experience with data modeling, schema design, and database architecture.
• Strong understanding of data integrity, quality, lineage, observability, and governance.
• Ability to communicate complex data concepts to technical and non-technical stakeholders.

Responsibilities

• Architect and evolve Venice's data infrastructure.
• Model schemas that are intuitive and queryable.
• Ensure data is accurate, complete, and trustworthy.
• Collaborate with Engineering, Product, Finance, Growth, and Operations.
• Support semantic and metrics layers; enable AI-driven querying.
