Job summary

Vend in Kraków, hybrid, seeks a Staff Data Engineer to strengthen data foundations across products and teams. You will own event-driven architectures, define data contracts, and guide schema evolution with a strong emphasis on reliability and observability.

You will work closely with product and platform teams to design scalable data flows, mentor engineers, and promote best practices for durable data products at scale.

Qualifications

• Senior data engineer with deep experience in distributed systems and event-driven architectures.
• Proven track record designing reliable data products and data contracts.
• Strong focus on schema evolution, quality signals, observability and lifecycle management.

Responsibilities

• Design and review event-driven data flows, Kafka topics, CDC patterns and streaming/batch pipelines.
• Define stable, well-documented interfaces between data producers and consumers with clear versioning and compatibility rules.
• Ensure data products are reliable, discoverable, documented, testable and observable for downstream use.
