Job summary

Juniper Poland Sp zoo is seeking a Senior Server and Storage Engineer to design, implement, and maintain highly available, scalable infrastructure across on-premises, cloud, and hybrid environments. You will manage block and file storage (SAN/NAS), backup, security, and performance tuning, while supporting Windows and Linux servers and VMware ESXi.

The role requires 7+ years of experience, strong scripting skills, and proficiency with cloud services (AWS, Azure), virtualization, and storage

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or related field, or equivalent practical experience.
• 7+ years of professional experience in server administration and engineering in an Infrastructure and Operations context.
• Proven mastery of multiple operating systems and storage offerings, including Linux, Windows, VMware ESXi, NAS, SAN, and Cloud Storage.
• Expertise in Server and Storage security, performance tuning, high availability configurations, and snapshot management.
• Strong experience with cloud-based server and storage services (AWS EC2, S3, Azure).
• Excellent scripting and automation skills (Shell, Python, PowerShell).
• Strong analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Design, implement, and maintain highly available, scalable, and secure infrastructure across on-premises, cloud, and hybrid environments.
• Provision and de-provision SAN and NAS storage to physical and virtual servers.
• Manage the full server lifecycle from configuration to decommissioning.
• Architect and implement robust backup and recovery strategies (DR/BCP).
• Develop and maintain documentation on systems architecture and processes.
• Collaborate with infra teams on capacity planning and network configuration.
• Monitor and optimize server and storage performance, including I/O tuning.
• Troubleshoot complex storage-related issues and provide root-cause analysis.

• Expertise in Server and Storage security, performance tuning, and high availability configurations (e.g., clustering, replication, failover) and snapshot management.
• Strong experience with cloud-based server and storage services (e.g., AWS EC2, S3, Azure server, Azure Files, Glacier or Blob storage).
• Excellent scripting and automation skills (e.g., Shell, Python, PowerShell).
• Strong analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills, with the ability to convey complex technical information clearly.

Preferred Qualifications

• Relevant professional certifications (e.g., RHEL Certified, Microsoft Certified: AWS or Azure Cloud Certifications, VMware certified professional).
• Experience with DevOps practices and tools (e.g., Terraform, Ansible, Kubernetes, Docker).
• Experience with Storage support and migration projects, including cross-platform shared storage migrations supporting (CIFS or NFS).
• Knowledge of monitoring tools like CheckMK, CloudWatch, or equivalent
• Experience with managing data backups and recovery
• Strong knowledge of storage protocols, such as Fiber Channel, iSCSI, NFS, and SMB
• Automate routine operational tasks such as monitoring, alerting, patching, and provisioning using scripting languages (e.g., Python, Bash, PowerShell) and configuration management tools.

Systems Management & Infrastructure

• Design, implement, and maintain highly available, scalable, and secure. Supporting both windows or Linux virtual servers for mission-critical applications across various environments (on-premises, cloud, and hybrid).
• Provision and de-provision block-level (SAN) and file-level (NAS) storage to physical and virtual servers based on organizational needs and performance requirements
• Manage the full Server lifecycle from initial configuration and setup through to maintenance, patching, upgrades, and eventual decommissioning.
• Architect and implement robust backup and recovery strategies (including disaster recovery and business continuity plans) for all supported server and storage platforms.
• Develop and maintain comprehensive documentation related to systems architecture, configuration, processes, and standards.
• Collaborate closely with infrastructure teams on capacity planning, hardware/storage provisioning, and network configuration to optimize server and storage performance and reliability.

Performance and Optimisation

• Proactively monitor server and storage performance, identifying bottlenecks and implementing advanced performance tuning (e.g., I/O optimization, server hardening strategies, instance configuration) to meet SLAs.
• Conduct routine performance audits and health checks across the entire virtual server estate.
• Configure and manage storage volumes , LUNs, and file shares to support application, database, and user data storage.
• Work closely with virtualization teams to Manage and optimize datastores for environments like VMware.
• Troubleshoot and resolve complex storage-related issues, such as performance bottlenecks, connectivity problems, and data access errors.

Server and Storage Technologies

• Demonstrate expert-level proficiency in administering, troubleshooting, and supporting Server Operating Systems (including Linux, Windows, VMware ESXi).
• Demonstrate deep experience with VMware or other Hypervisor and its associated tools, configurations, and high-availability solutions.
• Strong experience with Server administration, including Hardening, Performance, Storage allocations, Backup and Recovery, and High Availability solutions.
• Strong experience with supporting all-flash arrays and related features, including snapshots, replication, and performance tuning.

Operational Support & Security

• Serve as an escalation point for complex server and storage issues, providing 24/7 on-call support on a rotational basis.
• Implement and manage data protection strategies, including backups, snapshots, replication, and disaster recovery (DR) plans.
• Enforce security policies and procedures, managing user access, roles, and privileges in compliance with internal and external audit requirements.
• Troubleshoot and resolve complex production incidents, providing root cause analysis and implementing permanent fixes.
