DESCRIPTION OF THE TASKS
The selected candidate will perform the following typical tasks and responsibilities:
- Architectural Standards: Sets standards in the scope of design, development, quality, and testing.
- System Design: Designs and communicates system architecture, including interoperability and interfaces with other systems.
- Requirements Translation: Elicits needs, analyzes requirements, and transfers business, user, and technical needs into formal architectures.
- Strategic Mapping: Maps business goals, project benefits, priorities, components, and system features.
- Lifecycle Management: Maintains and tracks architecture throughout the systems lifecycle and identifies options for potential solutions.
- Team Leadership: Leads development teams and development processes.
- Optimization: Optimizes systems from performance, security, and quality points of view; collects and interprets system metrics.
- Support & Documentation: Contributes to systems design, testing, quality assurance, and change management; prepares system documentation and provides presentations.
- Implementation Support: Estimates and sizes software development works and selects/evaluates technologies.
KNOWLEDGE AND SKILLS
- Architectural Expertise: Expert in systems architecting and designing enterprise-level software systems.
- Technical Proficiency: Excellent technical knowledge of databases, application servers, communication middleware, web servers, GIS services, directory services, and systems security on Microsoft platforms.
- Design Skills: Expert in designing in UML and proficient in using modeling tools like Sparx Enterprise Architect or Aris Architect.
- Methodologies: Expert in software development methodologies, lifecycles, and artifacts (e.g., RUP, ISO12207, and Agile).
- Systems Management: Expert in planning capacity and security of systems.
- Professional Skills: Presents excellent communication, leadership, problem-solving, and effective documentation skills.
- SPECIFIC EXPERTISE (Mandatory)Key Achievement: Must have performed the role of key architect in the development of at least 2 software systems.
- Domain-Specific Experience:
- Experience as a Solutions Architect in projects aimed at design and implementation of ICT solutions querying the Schengen Information System.
- Experience with solutions enabling biometric processing, such as scanning fingerprints (NIST format) or documents with MRZ/RFID chip data.
- Experience with RedHat OpenShift as a main platform.
- Compliance Knowledge: Knowledge/experience in Data Privacy, DPIA, and Information Security Risk Assessment within EU Institutional environments.
REQUIRED CERTIFICATES
- At least two (2) certifications from the following list (or equivalent) are mandatory:Master level certificate in a relevant software development technology domain or in architecting software solutions (e.g., TOGAF Certified).
- Certified UML Professional certificate at foundation level.
