Job summary

OBI Smart Technologies, a joint venture between OBI and Reply Group, seeks a Software Test Engineer to ensure reliable releases of the heyOBI App with hands-on manual and exploratory testing across mobile apps and backend services.

As our quality engineering matures, you will design, implement and maintain automated tests, contribute to CI/CD, and collaborate with engineers, product owners and designers in a hybrid Katowice office.

Qualifications

• Completed university degree in Computer Science, Data Science, Mathematics or a related field.
• 3+ years of experience in software testing in agile teams.
• Strong hands-on manual and exploratory testing experience.
• Initial experience with test automation frameworks such as Playwright, Cypress, Appium, Selenium.
• Programming proficiency in TypeScript, JavaScript, Java, Python or C# for automated tests.
• Experience with REST API testing using Postman, Bruno, Chales Proxy or similar tools.
• Familiarity with CI/CD and Git is a plus.
• Excellent coordination and fluent English and Polish communication.

Job description

As our Software Test Engineer, you will help ensure that every release of the heyOBI App delivers a reliable, intuitive, and high-quality customer experience. Initially, your primary focus will be hands-on manual and exploratory testing while working closely with our product and engineering teams during active feature development.

As our quality engineering capabilities mature, your role will gradually shift towards designing, implementing, and maintaining automated test suites that enable fast, reliable, and scalable software delivery.

Key Responsibilities

• Manual & Exploratory Testing: Perform hands-on functional, regression and exploratory testing of our mobile applications (iOS & Android) and backend services. Identify usability issues, edge cases and unexpected application behaviour before they reach production.Validate new features throughout the development lifecycle.
• Defect Analysis: Investigate, reproduce and document defects with sufficient technical detail to enable efficient resolution. Analyze logs, network traffic and API responses to isolate root causes whenever possible.
• Test Automation: Gradually design, develop and maintain automated test suites for critical user journeys and regression scenarios. Contribute to establishing automation frameworks, coding standards and best practices. Continuously increase automated test coverage as part of our CI/CD pipeline.
• Collaboration: Work closely with Software Engineers, Product Owners and Designers throughout the development lifecycle. Support developers during feature implementation and validate fixes quickly. Help define acceptance criteria and test strategies for new features.
• Continuous Improvement: Identify opportunities to improve testing efficiency through automation and better tooling. Help evolve our quality engineering practices towards a modern, automation-first approach.

• Familiarity with CI/CD pipelines and version control systems (Git) is a plus.
• Excellent coordination and communication skills. You know how to talk to developers as well as business stakeholders to get things resolved quickly. Fluent communication skills in English and Polish.
• Openness to work in hybrid model and visit the Katowice office.
