Job description

The Software Engineering Manager (Analytics) is responsible for leading a global team of developers across key analytics functions, including data engineering, business intelligence (BI) reporting, data modeling, and data management. This role is critical in driving the execution of analytics development initiatives that support enterprise data strategies and business insights.

The manager will oversee the full development lifecycle of analytics solutions, ensuring alignment with business goals while maintaining high standards of quality, performance, and scalability. They will also oversee the resolution of level 3 production incidents, work to remove blockers, drive development velocity, and continuously improve delivery quality. A strong focus will be placed on team development, mentorship, and collaboration across matrixed teams including operations, architecture, and business stakeholders.

  • Oversees all steps of system development life cycles to assure conformance with established standards.

  • Resolves problems by devising or modifying procedures, considering capacity, limitations, operating time, and desired results when developing resolutions.

  • Defines project requirements by identifying milestones, forming project teams, establishing budgets, developing schedules, assigning and monitoring work, implementing standards, and resolving operational problems.

  • Develops strategic operating plans for deploying analytical solutions.

  • Monitors project progress, resolves issues, publishes reports, and recommends actions.

  • Determines staffing needs for software services, and oversees personnel selection and training within organizational policies.

  • Interfaces with other departments to analyze product technology needs.

  • Responsible for Service Level Agreements (SLAs) and Operational Level Agreements (OLAs) for software services.

  • Manages performance of direct reports by setting objectives, providing feedback, and ensuring policy adherence.

  • Coordinates functions of multiple team leaders and their teams.

  • Follows UL Solutions Code of Conduct and security practices.

  • Performs other duties as assigned.

  • Possesses detailed knowledge of analytical software services delivery.

  • Has advanced experience leading software projects and managing teams.

  • Holds a university degree in Computer Science or related discipline.
