Job summary

Cisco Systems, Inc. in Kraków is seeking an experienced Software Engineer to join the App Runtime team. You will develop long-term, scalable software for a modern SaaS platform, collaborating with product, UX and documentation teams to deliver robust features.

The role emphasizes Go, Docker and Kubernetes, with opportunities to work on Python, C++ and cloud integrations, and to contribute to automated tests, metrics, and microservice architectures. Strong communication is essential.

Qualifications

• Software engineering experience, including large-scale SaaS application development.
• Solid knowledge of Go in a production environment.
• Practical knowledge in Docker, Kubernetes and other container technologies.
• Nice to have: Python knowledge
• Nice to have: C++ knowledge
• Nice to have: AWS or Azure experience
• Terraform and Puppet experience
• Software security knowledge
• Understanding of computer networks
• gRPC protocol insight
• Good knowledge of operating system (preferably Linux) inner-workings
• Comfortable with tuning application performance and engineering for scalability
• Understanding what it means to craft software that is a part of larger microservice architecture
• Strong communication and comprehension skills, both verbal and written.

Responsibilities

• Design, implementation and delivery of long-term impact software in accordance with given requirements and existing system architecture.
• Maintain existing technology stack and debug and fix issues.
• Work closely with product management, and architects and the team to build exciting features, reusable components and products.
• Create, enhance and encourage robust test suites for all code, because you recognize the value of automated testing and continuous integration.
• Integrate metrics and service level indicators into features you build so that you can monitor, improve, and scale out services horizontally.
• Lead code reviews of the product, and use your knowledge of customer experiences to dedicatedly prevent future problems.
• Follow SDLC process in Agile methodology.

Our area of expertise encompasses building a wide variety of tools for other developers to use in their respective Splunk stacks. We, as engineers, create the building blocks and/or environments for other engineers to implement and use. Your contributions will create a robust, adaptable and advanced user friendly development experience. Enrich and empower others to their fullest potential.
