Job summary

Cisco in Kraków is seeking an experienced Software Engineer for the App Runtime team. You will design and deliver long-term software solutions for a SaaS platform, collaborating with product, UX, and documentation teams to create robust features and reusable components.

You will work with Go, Docker, Kubernetes, and cloud platforms, with opportunities to leverage Python/C++, and contribute to automated tests and CI/CD pipelines in a fast-paced, Agile environment.

Qualifications

• Experience building large-scale SaaS applications.
• Solid production Go experience in a distributed environment.
• Practical knowledge of container tech (Docker, Kubernetes).

Responsibilities

• Design, implement and deliver long-term software impact per requirements and system architecture.
• Maintain existing tech stack, debug and resolve issues.
• Collaborate with product and architects to build features and reusable components.
• Create and enhance robust test suites for CI/CD and automated testing.
• Add metrics and SLI/observability to features for monitoring and scaling.
• Lead code reviews and apply user-experience knowledge to prevent future problems.
• Follow SDLC in Agile methodologies.

We are looking for an experienced and passionate Software Engineer to join our App Runtime team. Our area of expertise encompasses building a wide variety of tools for other developers to use in their respective Splunk stacks. We, as engineers, create the building blocks and/or environments for other engineers to implement and use. Your contributions will create a robust, adaptable and advanced user friendly development experience. Enrich and empower others to their fullest potential.

This role requires cross-team collaboration with our product management, user experience, and documentation teams, as well as technical leaders from other engineering teams.

Responsibilities

• Design, implementation and delivery of long-term impact software in accordance with given requirements and existing system architecture.
• Maintain existing technology stack and debug and fix issues.
• Work closely with product management, and architects and the team to build exciting features, reusable components and products.
• Create, enhance and encourage robust test suites for all code, because you recognize the value of automated testing and continuous integration.
• Integrate metrics and service level indicators into features you build so that you can monitor, improve, and scale out services horizontally.
• Lead code reviews of the product, and use your knowledge of customer experiences to dedicatedly prevent future problems.
• Follow SDLC process in Agile methodology.

Requirements

• Software engineering experience, including large-scale SaaS application development.
• Solid knowledge of Go in a production environment.
• Practical knowledge in Docker, Kubernetes and other container technologies.
• Nice to have: Python knowledge
• Nice to have: C++ knowledge
• Nice to have: AWS or Azure experience
• Nice to have: Terraform and Puppet experience
• Nice to have: Software security knowledge
• Nice to have: Understanding of computer networks
• Nice to have: gRPC protocol insight
• Good knowledge of operating system (preferably Linux) inner-workings.
• Comfortable with tuning application performance and engineering for scalability.
• Understanding what it means to craft software that is a part of larger microservice architecture.
• Strong communication and comprehension skills, both verbal and written.
