Job summary

Moderna is seeking a hands-on, impact-driven software/ platform engineer to build and evolve tools that help application teams develop, deploy, and operate software in Warsaw. You’ll collaborate with builders to provide scalable, secure, and user-focused platform capabilities.

This role spans design to production operations, including writing code and automation in TypeScript/JavaScript or Python, and improving CI/CD, infrastructure, and developer experiences across teams.

Qualifications

• BS/BA in Computer Science with 5+ years of relevant work experience.
• 5+ years in software engineering, platform engineering, or a closely related role.
• Strong programming skills in TypeScript/JavaScript or Python.
• Hands-on experience building and operating solutions in AWS.
• Experience creating and maintaining CI/CD pipelines for production systems.

• Build and maintain developer tooling (AI agents, generators, libraries, templates, CLIs, and services).

Moderna is looking for a hands‑on, impact‑driven candidate to build and evolve the foundations that help application teams develop, deploy, and operate software effectively. This is an individual contributor role within our Warsaw hub that collaborates directly with developers ("Builders") to provide scalable, secure, and user‑focused platform capabilities.

This is a high‑growth opportunity for engineers who want to expand their scope beyond application development and gain hands‑on experience across the full lifecycle of modern software systems—from design and implementation to cloud infrastructure, deployment, and production operations. In this role, you will write software and automation that improves developer experience and accelerates delivery. You will also help build internal services, AI agents, cloud infrastructure in AWS, improve CI/CD pipelines, and create reusable tooling and Infrastructure‑as‑Code patterns that make the right path the easiest path for engineering teams.

Here’s What You’ll Do

• Build and maintain developer tooling (AI agents, generators, libraries, templates, CLIs, and services) that improve developer efficiency and establish standardized “golden paths.”
• Build and improve CI/CD pipelines to enable fast, safe, and reliable software delivery.
• Develop and manage AWS infrastructure using Infrastructure‑as‑Code with a focus on repeatability, security, and maintainability.
• Implement and operate shared builder services that power platform developer and DevOps experience.
• Enable AI‑assisted development across the platform (e.g., integrating MCP‑style capabilities, internalizing/packaging tools, and improving developer experience with AI tools).
• Partner closely with application engineers to understand friction points and deliver practical platform solutions that are adopted across teams.
• Writing production‑quality code and automation in languages such as TypeScript/JavaScript or Python.
• Supporting application teams with infrastructure for services, environments, deployment workflows, and operational readiness.
• Improving platform reliability, observability, and developer experience through automation and sensible defaults.
• Contributing to documentation, standards, and engineering best practices that help teams move faster with confidence.

Here’s What You’ll Need (Basic Qualifications)

• BS/BA degree in Computer Science with 5+ years of relevant work experience.
• 5+ years of experience in software engineering, platform engineering, or a closely related role.
• Strong programming skills in TypeScript/JavaScript or Python.
• Hands‑on experience building and operating solutions in AWS.
• Experience creating and maintaining CI/CD pipelines for production systems.
• Interest/familiar with using Infrastructure‑as‑Code to provision and manage cloud resources.
• Solid understanding of software engineering fundamentals, including testing, code review, version control, and system design.
• Ability to work across application and platform boundaries to solve developer productivity and delivery problems.
• Proficiency in English (verbal and/or written) required due to global collaboration needs.

Here’s What You’ll Bring to the Table (Preferred Qualifications)

• Familiar with Infrastructure‑as‑Code tools.
• Experience with GitHub Actions or similar CI/CD platforms.
• Familiarity with containers, especially in cloud‑based environments.
• Experience building internal services/tooling and contributing to frameworks.
• Comfort partnering with multiple engineering teams and influencing adoption through strong technical execution.
