Job summary

Grid Dynamics in Warsaw is seeking a Senior Autonomous Systems Simulation Lead to own the simulation strategy for autonomy development and validation across perception, planning, and control.

You will lead a startup-style, small team, mentor two architects, and collaborate with safety, hardware, and software teams to deliver degraded-mode architectures and fast, safe responses.

Qualifications

• 10+ years in autonomous systems with hands-on autonomy software ownership.
• Experience integrating simulation into autonomy development with sensor models and data contracts (NVIDIA Isaac Sim, CARLA).
• Experience with FMEA, hazard analysis, and collaboration with functional safety teams (ISO 26262/SOTIF).
• Understanding of vehicle and powertrain dynamics under load and on varied terrains.
• Proficiency in C++ and Python; comfortable working with AI coding agents.

Responsibilities

• Own the simulation strategy for autonomy development and validation across perception, planning, and control.
• Map failures to detection mechanisms and safe responses.
• Lead health monitors, fail-operational and fail-safe behavior, and minimum-risk conditions.
• Define software/hardware integration and system-level features across teams; guide code produced with AI agents.
• Mentor two Simulation & Perception architects and engineer across a startup-style team.
• Lead the simulation workstream’s contribution to the 2027 program charter and roadmap.

• Own the simulation strategy for autonomy development and validation, including scenario coverage, combining real and simulated data, and validating degraded modes and safety scenarios in simulation Lead FMEA and fault-tree analysis across perception, planning, control, and hardware
• Map failures to detection mechanisms and safe responses
• Work with safety engineering on a safety case covering acceptable fleet event rates and due-diligence signals Design health monitors, run levels, fail-operational and fail-safe behavior, minimum-risk conditions, fallback paths, and fast reactive safety layers such as collision-imminent braking, while keeping false positives low
• Define software/hardware integration, interfaces, and system-level features across teams; advise hardware teams on which requirements must be fixed immediately and which can wait Write, review, and guide code produced with AI coding agents within guardrails such as automated tests and toolchain checks; implement and test degraded-mode architecture on real machines
• Lead the simulation workstream’s contribution to the 2027 program charter and roadmap Guide two Simulation & Perception architects and mentor engineers in a small, fast-moving, startup-style team

Требования:

• 10+ Years of experience in autonomous systems, such as robotaxi, autonomous trucking, mining, agriculture, or construction autonomy Hands-on ownership of behavior, planning, or control software in a deployed autonomy stack, including proven design of minimum-risk maneuvers, fallback trajectories, and degraded modes
• Experience integrating simulation into autonomy development and validation, including scenarios, sensor models, and data contracts between simulation and the autonomy stack; NVIDIA Isaac Sim, CARLA, or equivalent
• Experience with FMEA, hazard analysis, and close collaboration with functional safety teams; ISO 26262, ISO 21448 SOTIF, or similar
• Understanding of vehicle and powertrain dynamics, including braking and traction limits under load, on slopes, and in rough terrain
• Experience with software architecture and hardware/software integration for real-time systems on embedded compute
• Continue to write code in C++ and Python and be comfortable working with AI coding agents
