Job summary

Motorola Solutions is seeking a UX Writer / Content Designer to craft the words users rely on in time‑critical public safety products. You’ll work with UX designers, accessibility specialists, and product managers to ensure language is consistent, clear, and intuitive across onboarding, navigation, and microcopy.

You don’t need to be an expert at start, but you’ll learn the UK public safety domain, develop language standards, and influence design decisions early in the process.

Qualifications

• 5+ years of experience designing product copy/content for complex web and mobile digital products.
• A portfolio demonstrating problem-solving through product copy - showing your design thinking and trade-offs, not just finished strings.
• Strong grounding in user-centred design (UCD) principles and hands-on experience working directly in Figma (or similar tools).
• Strategic trade-offs: balance user needs, brand voice, and business constraints - and articulate choices to stakeholders.
• Design systems: experience contributing content patterns or guidelines to a design system (bonus if you've built the language portion of one yourself).
• Accessibility & inclusion: collaboration with accessibility specialists to ensure language is clear and accessible.

Responsibilities

• Craft User Experience Copy: Write and refine clear UI text, onboarding flows, navigation, error messages, and microcopy across complex digital products.
• Define Tone & Standards: Own our product tone of voice and content design guidelines, evolving them as our software suite expands.
• Early-Stage Partnership: Partner with designers, researchers, and product managers from discovery through launch, entering the process early enough to influence design decisions.
• Evidence-Based Iteration: Test and refine content using qualitative user research, field feedback, and usability testing.
• Domain Mastery: Build deep fluency in public safety terminology, making deliberate choices about where domain-specific language belongs.
• Design System Integration: Contribute language patterns, component copy guidelines, and content standards to our design system.
