Job summary

Netwrix, Kraków-based hybrid role, seeks a senior software architect to lead platform architecture for our SaaS offerings. You will work with product and engineering teams to shape scalable, reliable, and secure services while aligning with cloud-native practices.

This position requires deep hands-on experience with Java, .NET, Kubernetes, Kafka, and data stores; you will produce RFCs, review designs, mentor engineers, and guide migration of on-premises workloads to SaaS.

Qualifications

• 10+ years in software engineering with leadership.
• Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in CS/Engineering or equivalent.
• Hands-on Java (Spring) expertise.
• Hands-on C#/.NET and guidance on scalability/cloud readiness.
• Familiarity with Active Directory / Entra ID.
• Windows-centric on-premise and SaaS delivery experience.

Responsibilities

• Own technical decision-making for teams: evaluate tech options, run POCs and benchmarks, propose frameworks and databases.
• Shape platform architecture: Kubernetes deployment topology, Kafka messaging, durable workflow orchestration, multi-tenant data models.
• Review designs and guide product teams on scalability and cloud readiness.
• Mentor engineers and improve engineering standards (GitOps, observability, secure pipelines).
• Assess on-premises products for scaling, performance, security, and migration to SaaS without disruption.
• Produce architecture artifacts (C4 diagrams, RFCs, design reviews) and present trade-offs to leadership.
• Design, build, and improve microservices and backend systems using Java, Spring Boot, JDK 21+ and .NET.
• Turn recurring solutions into shared libraries and tooling; review generated code for correctness and security.

This is a hybrid role with visits to our Kraków office.

What you'll do:

• Own technical decision-making for the teams you support: evaluate technology options, run POCs and benchmarks, and make evidence-based recommendations on frameworks, datastores, and infrastructure —including partition strategies, migration plans, and performance validation at SaaS scale
• Shape platform-level architecture: Kubernetes (AKS) deployment topology, Kafka-based messaging, durable workflow orchestration, and multi-tenant data models
• Serve as an embedded architecture partner for .NET product teams: review technical designs, code, author/critique RFCs, guide teams through scalability and cloud-readiness problems, and help converge products toward shared platform standards
• Mentor engineers across teams and raise the bar on engineering standards (GitOps, golden pipelines, observability, supply-chain security)
• Assess established on-premises products for scaling, performance, resiliency, code quality, technology choices, supported environments, interoperability, security, and third-party dependencies, and define a realistic migration path to SaaS that does not disrupt on-premises delivery
• Partner with Product Management, Support, and Professional Services to ground architecture recommendations in real customer and field issues, and review findings with those teams before publishing
• Produce architecture artifacts — C4 diagrams, RFCs, design reviews, benchmarks — and present trade-offs to engineering leadership
• Design, build, and improve microservices and backend systems for the SaaS platform using related technologies such as Java, Spring Boot, JDK 21+, and .NET. Follow sound cloud-native development principles, including API-first design, resilience patterns, and comprehensive unit, integration, and performance testing.
• Turn recurring solutions into shared libraries, tooling, and examples that other teams can adopt.
• Use AI-assisted development tools for coding, testing, and design exploration. Review generated code with the same care as any other contribution, including correctness, security, and maintainability.

Skills and Experience

• 10+ years in software engineering, with a track record of technical leadership
• Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field — or equivalent practical experience
• Hands-on expertise in Java (Spring ecosystem)
• Hands-on experience with C#/.NET and sound architectural judgment, with the ability to review designs and code, provide design guidance, and help product teams address scalability and cloud-readiness challenges.
• Working familiarity with Active Directory and Entra ID: domain services, LDAP, authentication protocols, and directory data models, with the appetite to go deeper
• Comfortable reasoning about Windows-centric on-premises products (agents, domain controllers, customer-installed footprints) and the constraints of dual on-premises and SaaS delivery
• Production Kubernetes experience: service design, Helm/GitOps deployment, jobs, autoscaling, multi-tenant SaaS operations
• Comfortable with distributed-data fundamentals: partitioning, consistency trade-offs, high-volume ingestion/ETL, query performance tuning; hands-on with a relational database at scale (PostgreSQL, SQL Server or similar), plus exposure to at least one analytical or NoSQL store
• Event-driven architecture experience (Kafka, RabbitMQ or similar), API-first design, and modern resilience/observability practices
• Good documentation skills — comfortable producing RFCs and design docs and influencing teams you don't manage

Nice to have

• Go, Azure, workflow engines (e.g. Temporal)
• Experience with Spring Reactive
• Exposure to identity security, such as ITDR, privileged access management, or identity governance
