Job summary

Intellias is seeking a seasoned Java engineer to design, develop, and maintain Spring Boot microservices and data pipelines in a distributed cloud environment. You will work with AWS services, databases like PostgreSQL and DynamoDB, and implement robust APIs while ensuring quality through automated testing.

The role requires strong ownership in a fast-paced Agile setting, excellent English communication, and the ability to coordinate 6 hours of overlap with US Central Time.

Qualifications

• 7+ years of development experience with Java on the Spring Boot framework.
• 3+ years of experience deploying and maintaining software using AWS.
• 3+ years of experience with AWS components: RDS, DynamoDB, Lambda, S3, Kinesis/Kafka, SNS, SQS.
• 3+ years of experience with IntelliJ or Eclipse.
• 2+ years of experience deploying software using CI/CD tools like Jenkins, GoCD, Azure DevOps, etc.
• Strong experience with microservices, MVC, and event-driven architectures.
• Strong experience with JPA / Hibernate.
• Solid test automation experience using JUnit and Cucumber.
• Strong ownership and self-management in Agile environments with English communication.
• Ability to provide overlap with US Central Time (CT) for 6 hours on business days.

Responsibilities

• Design, develop, and maintain scalable Spring Boot-based microservices in a distributed architecture.
• Build and operate event-driven data processing pipelines for streaming data.
• Develop and maintain robust APIs for internal and external consumers.
• Work with AWS cloud services to design and support reliable backend systems.

Intellias is partnering with a Fortune 100, Midwest-based industrial manufacturer to modernize and expand a suite of cloud-based services and data products used by a global network of dealers, enterprise customers, and internal business units. Our cross-functional teams deliver scalable APIs, event-driven services, and analytics pipelines that power quoting, ordering, asset telemetry, diagnostics, and lifecycle support for heavy equipment in the field.

What you will do

• Design, develop, and maintain scalable Spring Boot-based microservices in a distributed architecture
• Build and operate event-driven data processing pipelines, including ingestion, transformation, and enrichment of streaming data
• Develop and maintain robust APIs for internal and external consumers
• Work with AWS cloud services to design and support reliable, scalable backend systems
• Design, optimize, and maintain PostgreSQL and DynamoDB schemas, ensuring performance and data integrity
• Implement and maintain automated testing strategies (unit and integration)
• Contribute to and maintain GitHub Actions pipelines
• Ensure system reliability through monitoring, logging, and observability best practices
• Collaborate effectively in a distributed team, communicating progress, risks, and dependencies

What you need for this

• 7+ years of development experience with Java on the Spring Boot framework
• 3+ years of experience deploying and maintaining software using Amazon Web Services (AWS)
• 3+ years of experience with several of the following AWS components: Relational Database Service (RDS), DynamoDB, Lambda, S3 storage, Kinesis/Kafka, Simple Notification Service (SNS), Simple Queue Service (SQS)
• 3+ years of experience with IntelliJ or Eclipse
• 2+ years of experience deploying software using CI/CD tools such as Jenkins, GoCD, Azure DevOps, etc.
• Strong experience with microservices, MVC, and event-driven architectures
• Strong experience with JPA / Hibernate
• Solid test automation experience using JUnit and Cucumber
• Strong ownership and self-management in a fast-paced Agile environment, with the ability to independently deliver end-to-end solutions, resolve blockers, and communicate effectively in English
• Ability to provide 6 hours overlap with US Central Time (CT) on business days (till 2 pm CT latest)
