Job summary

EPAM Systems is seeking a Solution Architect for Kernel Optimization & ML Performance to shape high-performance ML solutions. You will lead kernel-level optimization on TPUs/GPUs, collaborate with ML researchers and compiler engineers, and define scalable architectures for large-scale AI workloads.

The role demands 12+ years in software engineering with 5+ years in leadership, deep knowledge of ML frameworks, and strong C++/Python HPC skills.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's or Master's degree in CS or equivalent practical experience.
• 12+ years of software engineering experience, including 5+ years in architecture or technical leadership.
• Hands-on experience with C++/Python for HPC.
• Knowledge of ML frameworks (JAX, PyTorch, TensorFlow) and Core ML concepts.
• Strong compiler, graph optimization and toolchain experience (MLIR/OpenXLA).

Responsibilities

• Define and own the architecture for performance-critical ML workloads, leveraging custom kernels on TPUs and GPUs.
• Create a strategic roadmap for kernel optimization, framework integration, and large-scale performance improvement.
• Collaborate with client tech leadership, ML researchers and engineers to capture requirements and design scalable solutions.
• Evaluate and select technologies and design patterns to optimize compute-intensive operations.
• Guide benchmarking infrastructure, autotuning frameworks, and performance profiling tools.
• Advocate ML performance best practices influencing framework and compiler enhancements.
• Provide technical leadership and mentorship to development teams implementing architectural solutions.
• Ensure adherence to security, scalability, and maintainability standards in solution design.
