Job summary

Smoobu is seeking a backend engineer to join the Core Engagement team in Kraków. You will design and implement scalable PHP/Symfony services, focusing on cloud-native architecture and AI-assisted development with a distributed international team.

Plan complex projects, collaborate with stakeholders, mentor peers, and evolve the platform with robust data models and event-driven patterns. Competitive compensation and a high-performance culture await.

Qualifications

• Solid experience in backend development (PHP/Symfony).
• Expertise in relational and non-relational databases.
• Good knowledge of cloud platforms (preferably AWS).
• Familiarity of Docker and containerized environments.
• Experience in designing and working with event-driven, asynchronous and integration-heavy systems.
• Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to drive technical solutions in a fast-paced environment.
• Experience in AI-assisted software development, including agentic coding tools and workflows.
• Entrepreneurial mindset and business curiosity.
• Excellent communication skills in English and the ability to work efficiently in a distributed, multinational team.

• Autonomously plan and execute quarterly or multi-quarter complexity projects, set measurable milestones and manage complex dependencies and scope.
• Partner closely with business stakeholders to refine product direction, recommend impactful improvements delivering customer value, and strengthen feedback loops.
• Propose and implement tangible technical initiatives improving team velocity and overall software quality, and mentor your colleagues.
• Continuously improve the way we use AI-assisted and agentic coding, hit impossible goals and make it new normal.

In this role, you will be part of the Core Engagement team, driving customer success bydeveloping products that maximize host and guest satisfaction, like guest communicationsolutions, guest guides, and managing online check-in.

Salary range:

125 - 209 PLN/h + VAT(B2B)
