Job summary

OBI Smart Technologies, a joint venture between OBI and Reply Group, seeks a Senior Software Engineer to design and scale high-volume payment systems. You will own end-to-end delivery, build payment integrations with Adyen, Stripe, and PayPal, and contribute to a DevOps culture in a cross-functional Scrum team.

You will work in a hybrid setup in Katowice, leveraging Java, Spring Boot, Kafka, AWS, and PostgreSQL to ensure secure, reliable payment services and continuous improvement.

Qualifications

• Completed university degree in Computer Science, Data Science, Mathematics, or a comparable technical field.
• 5+ years of experience in backend development of scalable, distributed systems using Java and Spring Boot.
• Proven hands-on experience in the payment domain, including building or integrating payment gateways and payment orchestration systems.
• Strong understanding of payment processes such as authorization, capture, settlement and refunds.
• Experience integrating payment providers such as Adyen, Stripe, PayPal or similar platforms.
• Practical experience with AWS, Kafka, Docker, Terraform, and SQL-based databases (e.g. PostgreSQL).
• Fluent communication skills in English and Polish, with openness to hybrid work in Katowice.

• Collaborate with Product Owners and stakeholders to shape payment-related features and improvements.
• Ensure reliability, performance, and security of payment systems through monitoring and continuous improvement.
• Work in a cross-functional Scrum team, contributing through code reviews, pair programming, and knowledge sharing.
• Participate in Motivizer Benefits Platform initiatives to manage benefits and participate in learning and development programs.
• Engage in internal community activities, networking events, coding challenges, and company parties.

State-of-the-art Java development in a payments domain! Microservices in AWS with a DevOps culture, cross-functional Scrum teams, and full ownership of systems powering critical transactional flows. We are looking for a Senior Software Engineer with strong experience in payment systems who will design and scale services handling high-volume, business-critical payment processes.

Responsibilities

• Design and implement highly available and scalable backend components for payment services, including payment flows such as authorization, capture, and refunds.
