Job summary

Keepit is building a Java engineering team in Krakow and seeks a Senior Java Engineer to help shape it from the ground up. You will own complex backend components for a cloud-to-cloud backup platform, driving architectural decisions for greenfield Java services.

Must have 5+ years of backend Java experience, Spring Boot, KeyCloak auth, SQL, Docker, and event-driven tech like Kafka or RabbitMQ. You will mentor peers and own technical decisions.

Qualifications

• 5+ years of backend Java development experience.
• Solid experience with Spring Boot, RESTful API design, and service-oriented architecture.
• Experience with KeyCloak and authentication/authorization systems.
• Strong SQL skills with relational databases.
• Experience with containerized solutions (Docker).
• Familiarity with event-driven architecture (Kafka, RabbitMQ).
• Experience with CI/CD pipelines and modern DevOps practices.
• Proactive mindset with willingness to share knowledge.

About the role

We are building a Java team in our Krakow office at Keepit, and we're looking for a Senior Java Engineer to help shape it from the ground up. You will work on our cloud-to-cloud backup platform: a distributed, high-availability system that protects the critical SaaS data of organizations worldwide. This role involves owning complex components and features end-to-end, while also driving key architectural decisions for greenfield Java backend projects.

Proactiveness, initiative, and strong decision-making are essential for this role. We need someone who can set the bar, not just meet it.

You will:

• Lead technical design and architecture for features and services, ensuring scalability and maintainability
• Participate in all phases of the software development lifecycle
• Collaborate with Product, QA, Support, and Operations teams to resolve issues and deliver improvements
• Maintain high code quality by clear documentation, thorough code review, and architectural improvements
• Ensure system reliability, including error handling, observability, and scalability
• Mentor and grow other developers; be the go-to technical authority on the team

About you

Must-haves:

• 5+ years of backend Java development experience
• Solid experience with the Spring Boot ecosystem, RESTful API design, and modern service-oriented architecture
• Experience working with KeyCloak, and good understanding of Authentication and authorization systems
• Solid understanding of SQL and working with relational databases
• Experience with docker and containerized solutions
• Familiarity with event-driven architecture (e.g. Kafka, RabbitMQ)
• Experience with CI/CD pipelines and modern DevOps practices
• Strong initiative and a proactive mindset, with a willingness to share knowledge in a collaborative environment
• Ability to work independently and take full ownership of technical decisions
