Job summary

ForeFlight is seeking a Senior Software Engineer to accelerate AI-enabled modernization of aviation products. You will join a small, cross-functional team, owning significant end-to-end work from clarifying problems to deployment and stabilization.

The role emphasizes strong software engineering, production experience, and proficient use of AI-assisted development tools. The position is hybrid, with onsite work in Gdansk, Poland.

Qualifications

• Strong Python or general-purpose language skills.
• Experience designing, delivering, and operating production software at scale.
• Experience using AI-assisted development tools to deliver meaningful changes.
• Ability to decompose ambiguous work into clear tasks with context and acceptance criteria.
• Strong understanding of testing, CI/CD, observability, security, and production operations.

Responsibilities

• Design, build, test, deploy, and operate software for aviation products and modernization initiatives.
• Translate ambiguous outcomes into clear technical designs and work units.
• Use coding agents and AI-assisted tools across the lifecycle.
• Decompose work for parallel execution and integration of results.
• Critically evaluate AI-generated solutions for correctness and maintainability.
• Establish verification via automated testing, security tooling, and observability.
• Integrate new capabilities with existing systems and data formats.
• Identify risks and communicate tradeoffs to stakeholders.
• Lead by example in code review and production support.
• Mentor engineers in agent-based development workflows.
