Job summary

FIS is seeking a Software Senior Architect Lead for Non-Functional Engineering (NFE) in Poland, hybrid work. You will own deep technical analysis of how payment platforms behave under load, profile systems, and drive concrete optimisations that improve throughput and latency at scale.

You will work with Java performance tooling, profiling, and GC tuning, guiding design reviews and delivery pipelines, while leading load and failover campaigns and shaping predictive tests for resilience.

Qualifications

• Proven experience as a performance architect or senior performance engineer for large-scale Java systems.
• Expertise in Java profiling with JFR, async-profiler, JProfiler, or YourKit.
• Ability to analyze thread dumps and reason about concurrency, deadlocks, and contention.

Responsibilities

• Profile Java applications end to end across CPU, memory, threads and I/O to isolate hot paths.
• Analyse thread dumps to diagnose lock contention, deadlocks, and thread-pool exhaustion.
• Own garbage collection analysis and JVM tuning to stabilise latency under load.
• Read and interpret database execution plans to tune SQL and indexing.
• Collaborate with development teams to implement and validate code-level optimisations.
• Lead load, stress, soak and failover campaigns and drive performance investigations.
