Job summary

Mettler-Toledo International, Inc. is seeking an experienced Linux infrastructure engineer to operate, support and continuously improve our global IT infrastructure.

You will join an international team across Europe, Asia, and the United States to optimize Linux-based services and related platforms. You will design, implement, and maintain automation for OS configuration, patch management and compliance checks, while ensuring security and performance across the VMware-hosted Linux fleet.

Qualifications

• At least 5 years' experience implementing, managing, and supporting enterprise IT infrastructures focused on Linux-based services.
• Knowledge of RHEL, Rocky Linux, Debian, Ubuntu, and Red Hat Satellite.
• Proven scripting and automation skills with Bash and IaC tools like Ansible, Azure DevOps, Terraform.

Responsibilities

• Act as SME for Linux servers on VMware infrastructure and manage provisioning, configuration, patching, upgrades, and troubleshooting.
• Ensure high availability, security, performance, and lifecycle management of Linux-based services.
• Develop and maintain automation for system administration and operational processes.
• Provide 2nd level on-call support and maintain technical documentation.

Our Opening and Your Responsibilities

In this role, you will be responsible for the operation, support, and improvement of our IT infrastructure related solutions with a global scope. You will be joining an international team of Engineers from Europe, Asia, and the United States, contributing to optimize our IT infrastructure services continuously.

Key Tasks and Responsibilities

• Act as a subject matter expert for Red Hat Enterprise Linux, Rocky Linux, and Debian servers hosted on VMware infrastructure,
• Perform server provisioning, configuration, patching, upgrades, and troubleshooting activities,
• Manage the complete Linux server lifecycle, including deployment, maintenance, refreshing, and decommissioning,
• Ensure high availability, stability, performance, and security of Linux-based services and platforms,
• Monitor infrastructure health, performance, capacity, and availability across the Linux environment,
• Investigate, troubleshoot, and resolve incidents, alerts, and operating system-related issues,
• Perform root cause analysis and implement preventive measures to minimize recurring problems,
• Design, develop, and maintain automation solutions for system administration and operational processes (e.g. OS configuration, patch management, and compliance checks),
• Identify, assess, and remediate security vulnerabilities and insecure system configurations,
• Support disaster recovery, business continuity, and capacity planning initiatives,
• Review business and security requirements and implement infrastructure solutions aligned with operational standards,
• Provide 2nd level operational support, participate in on-call rotations, maintain technical documentation, and contribute expertise to datacenter and cross-functional infrastructure projects.

What You Need to Succeed

• At least 5 years' experience in implementing, managing, and supporting enterprise IT infrastructures with a focus on Red Hat Enterprise Linux,
• Knowledge of: Red Hat Enterprise Linux (RHEL), Rocky Linux, Debian, Ubuntu, Red Hat Satellite,
• Proven experience in Bash scripting, automating and orchestrating infrastructure related tasks (Infrastructure as Code concepts, Ansible, Azure DevOps, Terraform),
• Proficient English written and spoken (min. B2 level),
• Proficiency in VMware vSphere/ESXi, monitoring platforms, and LDAP/Active Directory integration,
• Strong time management and organizational skills,
• Authentic, self-driven team player with a result-oriented and positive attitude.
